Opinions on this?

About the size of weapons, not only are all weapons in general oversized to remain identifiable when zoomed out, but there is also the precedent of the throwing axeman who uses dwarven double battleaxes that weigh maybe 15 kg by eyeballing them, instead of a 600g francisca.

From the latest DLC of The Three Kingdoms

Right but what happens as a consequence of that earthquake to in-game units

I don’t think the criticisms of the dlc are invalid, it’s just that the amount of different threads addressing the same issues are a bit tiresome.

I too have been playing since the cd-rom days, I just don’t feel the changes in this dlc are as bad as others do. This thread seems to be specifically about the heroes having special abilities in the campaign - which I often forgot to activate - It just doesn’t ruin the game for me.

People are free to dislike the dlc, my issue is the amount of threads dedicated to the same topic. Maybe I’ll step away for a bit while the dlc discussions are going on

Most are downstream from 2 decisions :

1- it’s not what was expected from teasers, we all expected a classic medieval DLC
2- it’s directly integrated in the main game despite some fantasy elements and breaking several precedents, while separated like Chronicles no one would have cared. They could even release SWGB:DE as a separate module, so long it doesn’t impact the main game no one would care (at most some would be annoyed by the opportunity cost of doing that instead of more usual content).

The 2 were so easy to avoid without even touching the content itself, just make it a separate module and anounce it as such from the start.

Damage. To all nearby units and buildings. Like any fantasy earthquake attack.

Hero’s not having a helmet was a thing since aok cd version eg.joan of arc.

The easiest and quickest way that they can do for make up now is renaming the three heroes to Lord in normal games like the ranked, which can make them unspecific.

But I think people woud still against the heroes even if they were renamed. They should be replaced with something general, like the Wooden Ox for Shu, Guard Chariot for Wei, and Night Raider for Wu. Those units did be used in the history, and they can have good reasonable explanation for their aura, e.g. the Wooden Ox can heal units as it was a mobile device that transport supplies. As general units, you can reasonably train them without the limit of 1.

More my two cents for the 3K: Move on and make Three Kingdoms more accurate and balanced
