Options reset on Playstation5

  • Build Number: Latest Release

  • Platform: PlayStation

  • Operating System:

Issue: When i close AOE, my options get resetted.

Trigger Event: Close aoe. Restart. Etc.

Edit: It seems to Happen betweem Games too, without the need of restarting aoe

Repro Steps: Get into the game. Adjust your options(camera settings, game settings). Restart

This is obviously annoying as you need to configure all over again.

As a Bonus, when i select the options on the dashboard and Hit R1 or L1, most of the time it wont change Tabs. I need to quickly Hit it several Times to get out of options menu.

If either one is not reproduceable i can provide a video.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

i have the same problems.

Settings won’t save and reset after closing the game on the playstation.

The problem with the L1 and R1 buttons in the settings/options I have also.

On reddit I found a topic with the same problems on ps5.

Hopefully the devs will patch/update these bugs soon.

Can confirm. Its quite annoying. To assist though, to get out of the options section you need to press L1 twice quickly and it will leave that section. Odd, but its a temp workaround.

Thanks for the tip.

I pressed both L1 and R1 fast after each other. It works indeed. But sometimes have to wait a few seconds before it works.

Hopefully they fix the button and saving setting problem asap.

The latest Update seems to have a fix for the not saving options.

Since then, i reopened the game quite often. Options got resetted.

Its not 100% fixed.

I checked it and the settings changes you make. Seem to be saved. So that looks fixed.

The probleem not getting out of the settings screen with the buttons L1 and R1 is not solved. Sometimes it works when pressing the buttons quick multiple times. But the screen sometimes freezes. And the only option is closing the game and restart it.

Have others tried with the new patch/update?

I believe, restarting the game doesnt reset it anymore. But when powering ps5 on or off it gets lost? Saving options to RAM?

I just performed a small test and it seems that the settings don’t save after shutting down the ps5. But they are saved when put into rest mode.

In its current state the settings are reset anytime you close the game without saving anything in the options. So as a work around if you always make sure to…

  • Change Something
  • Save
  • Change it Back
  • Save

… then all of your settings will remain the next time you open the game. I’ve just gotten into habit of doing this as the first thing I do when I open the game. Sure its annoying and shouldn’t need to be done but it sure beats making 10 changes when your settings reset (assuming you make alot of modifications).

This bug is still present in Patch 15.1.7149.

It was stated to be fixed in Patch 15.1.7064 but this is incorrect.

Thank you for letting us know, we’re investigating. We may reach out for more information about steps to reproduce this issue and would love a comment from anyone else still experiencing this issue.

To replicate it all you need to do it open the game, close it, and open it again. Because you opened the game but did not make any changes to the game options it will cause everything to reset (therefore turning back on ui narration and resetting all settings).

The only work around I have found is to make sure I go into my options menu each time I open the game and make one single change to the options, save it, then revert the change, then save it again.

I tested to see if this was fixed after the patch went live by doing what I described above and the ui narration came back on and my camera settings/selection settings defaulted. I then tested it a second time by doing my work around through multiple opens and closes and as long as I did the work around it was fine. As soon as I opened it and closed it without making any changes everything reverted.

Still Present in Patch 15.1.7149

Can confirm this is still happening on ps5. Like YIG1015 said, if you don’t change settings when opening the game, the next time you open the game the settings are reset.
