Original AoE Farms

Personally I am for the option for the option to auto-reseed but not to make it passable. Mostly because it is a micromanagement problem at higher Pop levels in game where that should be towards Military late game. The farms also being impassable works to keep the original feel of the game still though.

I think it would be nice if they put the option in the game to enable auto-ressed, but i want also the real aoe 1 feelings without auto-reseed!

Screenshots I’ve seen make it look like units can walk through farms similar to AoEII

I say keep them as is, but have an auto rebuild function. It might lower a skill ceiling but still keeps it accessible for newer players to the series or just casual players.

Maybe a nice compromise would be to not allow auto rebuild queue, but instead the farm becomes depleted, villager stands next to it, waiting for you to manually select him and click on the farm to rebuild (sow) it?

In another thread on this board, a guy posted a screenshot wherein there were a bunch of villagers standing around/between farms, but none standing ON the farms. If they could stand ON the farms, I would think you would see that at least once, in at least one screenshot.

If they’re reseedable please no maracas. Anything else. Tactical blocking with farms is just a cheesy tactic.

That’s what makes this game like we used to play.
So much games that us “Automatic” system these days.
But that’s not what we want, right ?
We just want bring back our memories dan live it again. Like we used to! :smiley:
But yeah, a bit of improvement is what we expecting.

should be automatic seeding. why waste time re-seeding over and over again rather than trying to end the actual game

For me what made AOE great was the story, the time period, the units, and the feel of the game.
The annoying parts of the game like having to rebuild farms all the time wasn’t what made me like the game.

I hope they just add a queue, without mucking with the farm blocking.

The biggest pain in the ■■■ in the original is the fact that villagers walk to the center of farms once it is empty so you need to move it out of the way first if you want to rebuild it. This is just very tedious. Fix this and I don’t really care for automatic reseeding. Remember you still hear a sound cue if a farm runs out so you know when it runs out, then you only need to use the idle villager key.

Actually, in the original already the villagers tried to move away from where the farms were, but when you had several farms that exhausted the villagers used to walk to where the other farms were. It’s not so easy for the villagers to avoid the places where the farms used to be, as they would have to take all farms into account, not just their own. Automatic reseeding would be a much easier and better solution.

I’m pretty sure they moved to where the farm previously was. But I will have to check this to be sure.

They actually don’t walk to the middle of the farm.

If there are more farms arround the just farm another farm, even if there is already another villager.

It looks like only 1 villager is able to actually gain food from a farm even if more than 1 is at a farm. All the other villagers will just pretend to work.
