Do you think that they will still have the original Farms from AoE1 where you can’t walk over them and you have completly rebuild them if they harvested or does the new set of comfort features adress this and bring the Age2 mechanics to the farms?
I would wish that they bring the Age2 way to the game as Farms where really a pain in the ■■■ in the original Age1.
Probably they’ll change it. It was a little pain in the ■■■ but who knows. On the other hand they would have to totally change “image” of the farms. Worker walking on this building on the farm? Plz no.
We saw the new Graphics in the Trailer. So vills walking on the small huts wont be a problem.
I know it is on… but watching it at work is kinda problematic
Keep them as it was please, allowed for some tactical blocking using farms near town centers.
I think auto-reseed farm feature (like in AoE II: Conquerors) would make a great quality-of-life improvement, without losing any of the original AoE1 feel.

Yeah I completely agree they were a big pain in the ass, but I hope they keep the original format. I don’t think it’s really a broken mechanic, and you shouldn’t be stomping all over your cabbage and carrots anyways

Yeah, that’d actually be pretty nice. Original AoE1 farms + auto-reseeding. The worst part of AoE1 farms for me was the fact that the villager would walk straight in the center of a farm after it died, then you’d have to move him over to the side just to place it again.
I personally didn’t mind the way farming worked in AoE1. Auto-seeding just made keeping food production up way too easy while you have to deal with everything else. The way I look at it is that if you can’t keep up with farming you don’t deserve to have any food stock.
I hope they make a automatically farm rebuild, its didnt really cool when i need all 3min to look at the farms
The AoE1 farming system was barely tolerable with the 50 pop cap. If the limit will be higher in the new version you could be having dozens of farmers at the same time, which would turn reseeding into a micromanagement ■■■■ without automatic reseeding. But I don’t think units need to be able to walk over them.
Yeah the impassable farms made farm placement a pain in the ■■■. Plus, they would run out constantly with no queue’d re-seeding. I really hope this is something they take care of…
@qweytr24 I can agree to disagree with you on this, but in reality what will your villager and army ratio be? I hoping 1:2 because the bigger your army the better, amirite?
When they didn’t automatic rebuild, i make only units they cost wood and gold  (Siege for the win)
I hope that the farms didn’t need attention all the time.

The army to villager ratio would depend on the kind of units you go for. With cheap units you might get away with having e.g. 133 military out of 200 pop, but if you want to go for something expensive like elephants instead you will need more villagers to sustain production. Going only for elephants you might need 80 farmers and 40 gold miners to support 80 elephants. While this kind of build is a bit extreme, even half of those 80 farmers would be unmanageable with the old system.
Instead of infinite farm/automatic rebuild they could simply implement some research which increases the amount of food capacity of a farm.
- The automatic rebuild removes a really good micromanagement feature
Farm queue rebuild, units formation, more population, easy hotkey setup with different ways and more UI info can be good
I hope they change it to AOE2 standard. You had to build the farms far apart, otherwise villagers would get stuck walking to and from the TCs or granaries, which was a pain.
Plus the point about them moving in the way of building new farms after they were used up. >_<

I personally think the micromanagement is better focused on military in the late-game. It’s also better not to have a clicks-per-minute-competition for casual players.

personally the micromanagement should cover the entire “empire” from your army to your bases.
I would be against auto-reseeding for the same reason Manello1 gave. The easier they make it the less “skill” is involved.
Also, I want this to be more like the original AoE rather than AoE2 - the more they change it to make it easier the more pointless it seems to be - why not just release AoE2 HD on windows 10?
