Ottoman Wrong Military School Cost and Akinji

In Age of Empires IV – Patch 12.2.3327, Ottoman has a change of Military and Technology Building discount 33% → 40%. However, the military school is still 150 woods and 100 stone cost. It should be about 135 woods and 90 stone cost. The Ottoman now is too weak in economy and the first two age. On the other hand, there is no one using the Akinji in Vizier Point. The Akinji is still weak than other races’ Cavalry Archer like Rose. Akinji is very weak in attacking, speed, and the development. Maybe add some special power like Sipahi or make it stronger same as other races.

I think military schools price is fine they need +1 military school limit per age up.So they need to get 7 military schools and with vizier point 8.I come to this conculusion by looking at lancaster.

  • They have 9 manors + manors generate resources every 8 second.Military schools pays in the time of unit creation if its 1 min to create a unit you get your profit after 1 min which is a huge disadvantage compared to manors.
  • Manors gives 105 resources/min when they built in imperial 145 res/min but military schools give 80 res/min at start, with blacksmith and vizier points it gave 120 res/min.
  • Manor also can shoot arrows with the landmark which makes them unraidable early game.
  • I understand devs why did they go this way but high win rates of Ottoman is because Ottoman players are really good compared to other players thats it.
  • There is also a secret nerf to the janissaries dont think i didnt noticed it devs.

Akıncı:I think it should aoutomaticly gets the unit upgrades with each age up.Its really strong and nice unit. Also not getting them early in the game makes them little useless.Since you want to do raidings with it.Even if no one uses them its good to have them.

Also Istanbul Imperial Palace needs a buff. Its too useless compared to the other landmark.

I think five military school is totally enough. Build too much military school will affect the age up speed and the villagers to gathering food. If spend too much time on gathering stone and build up the military school will affect the ability of incoming battle, which means less army. It is different from Lancaster, they can get the resource of food directly after build up each manor that equals to about 2 villagers on gathering food.

Ottoman have military schools that train units automatically, the Vizier points system with unique upgrades, and units like the Akinji. These elements underperform compared to other civs.

Looking at military schools: maybe their cost is too high or they don’t produce units quickly enough. If they’re expensive, players might not build enough of them early on, delaying their military advantage. Adjusting the cost or production rate could help. Maybe reduce the initial cost so players can build them sooner, but make sure it’s balanced so it doesn’t become too strong in the late game.

Akinji are light cavalry unit that does bonus damage against villagers. If they’re underused, maybe their stats are too low. Increasing their attack speed or movement speed could make them more viable for raiding. Also, their bonus damage against vills might not be significant enough. Maybe scaling it with age would make them more relevant as the game progresses.

The Vizier points system allows choosing unique upgrades. If some of these upgrades aren’t impactful, players might not invest in them. Buffing underused ones, like improving siege units or trade, could add more strategic options. For example, making the siege upgrade reduce setup time for cannons, which would make Ottoman artillery more responsive in battles.

Economy-wise, Ottomans might have slower starts. Their military schools provide free units but require upfront investment. Maybe adding a small food collection rate from the sheep card in Vizier points. Alternatively, reducing the cost of military schools slightly so players can build them earlier without sacrificing too much eco.

Landmarks are crucial. If their landmarks aren’t providing enough advantage, adjusting their bonuses could help. The Imperial Armory, for instance, could have its aura effect increased or provide additional benefits like faster production. The Grand Bazaar might generate more gold or offer a unique trade bonus to enhance their economy. The Grand Bazaar is much worse than other civlization.

Balancing is key. Any change should be tested incrementally. For example, a small cost reduction on military schools first, then monitor win rates. Similarly, if Akinji are buffed, their raiding potential should be better but not make them unstoppable early on.

Also, considering the meta. If other civs have strong early rushes, Ottomans need tools to defend. Maybe military schools produce units faster in the Feudal Age, helping them hold off attacks. Or the first military school could be cheaper, encouraging early build.
