Do you think map scripts of older maps like Arabia, Black Forest, Four Lakes, etc will be updated to include Oysters?

Do you think Oysters will feature in the maps of AoE2 tournaments in future?

I think they should add Oysters to Islands including the feature to get part wood from them.

Currently Oysters are toggable when you activate the “Antiquity Mode”

But will they be available in ranked?

What else is there in this mode apart from the civs?

Antiquity mode enables oysters and naval wood trading.
It is independent of the civilisation set you choose.
So you can play with oysters but ban Ancient civs or the other way round.

Is it in addition to naval gold trading or replacement?

You can set a ratio between wood and gold from 25% to 75%. So 100% gold or wood is not an option.

Not sure if it will be available for medieval civs at all or how trading between ancient and medieval civs works because of the new naval buildings.

The update for older maps already exists: the oysters will appear if antiquity mode is selected. Zetnus looked through all of the standard map scripts (and noted some bugs, which presumably will be fixed before the official release). Some custom maps will also get updated, but no guarantees on that. And not every map with water will have oysters when antiquity mode is selected (ex: Arabia, maybe Black Forest, and other maps that only have small amounts of water)

Blue Carbon Cup 2 is going to be played in Antiquity mode, so yes. It will likely depend on whether future tournaments are played on antiquity mode or not (personally, I hope that it becomes a bit of a standard to play on antiquity mode). I also think that having Oysters locked behind antiquity mode will be a new convention in custom rms scripts as well (that’s what I’ve been doing in my own custom rms scripts).
