Patch

Hi everyone, I have a question. Do you think there will still be patch support for this game? No patches have arrived since July…

Development team has been working on AoE III DE.
Maybe this fall something is coming to AoM R

Yeah, okay, but it seems strange to me that they haven’t updated the game in three months; before, there were at least two balance patches a month. We’re not talking about DLC, just patches.

i would say if nothing by november then it wouldnt look good but then again they will need to make adjustments to the new dlc in terms of bugs and balance patches.

Two major DLCs were released a week apart for Age of Empires 3 and Age of Empires 2. I think the development and project management teams were very busy with these games.

I agree with cs-mark. If we don’t have anything before the end of 2026 (or nothing announced for the beginning of 2027), we will have good reason to worry.

And with the news concerning World’s Edge and Activision, we can imagine the worst… But for now I’d say wait and see.

Sounds like a horror week for the employees at WE

I’m really sorry hear about this and feel for everyone who’s been affected. Hoping you all bounce back soon and find someone who appreciates your talent and value. Although it’s clear that Activision does not, the fans of all Age of Empires series do! Thank you for this love child project that breathed fresh life, excitement and joy into one of the best games 20 years later :champagne:  :balloon:

Both the creative director and the senior software engineer were laid off.

The development of Age of Mythology and then Age of Empires games is pretty intransparent. What does World Edge even do and what does Forgotten Empires do? What did Tantalus Media do, what did CaptureAge do what did Virtous Games do?

Most AA games only have 1 studio. Only really AAA games sometimes have more then on. It’s really really unusual for games this size to have that many different studios. I don’t know of any other case like that. That is almost as much as modern Call of Duty games. Transport Fever 3, a game with a similar popularity as AoE2DE (or maybe even more) and a similar complexity has only 1 developer. It’s hard finding any game that has more then 1 developer if you exclude the biggest AAA games.
