Personal Suggestions for Changes to China in Age of Empires IV (A Bold Vision)

Note: I am Chinese. This is a very important post, and I hope it receives consideration.

The Chinese civilization’s greatest core strengths in the current game are the Imperial Officials, followed by the dynasty system. However, officials are currently overpowered in the early game (especially Age II) and too weak in the late game.

Officials are the heart of the Chinese civilization. Their mechanics should generate enjoyment through player interaction. Currently, particularly in 4v4 matches, many players find them not only unfun but also largely irrelevant in the late game, often being ignored. If the following changes were implemented, I would personally be very engaged.

Proposal:
Imperial Officials should no longer be trainable units. Instead, each official should be unique.

  • The game starts by granting Official A. His abilities are progressive, scaling with age and dynasty advancement (similar to current functionality). The strict limit on their number would test player strategy more intensely.

  • Upon reaching the Song Dynasty, unlock Official B. He would possess different abilities from Official A (suggested: an area-of-effect buff ability that does not supervise drop-off sites but increases gathering rates; he could also retain the military production speed bonus).

  • Upon reaching the Yuan Dynasty, unlock Official C. He will be a military commander with powerful abilities, but they only affect infantry and cavalry. He can use tax gold collected to activate skills that enhance the combat effectiveness of military units.

Upon reaching the Ming Dynasty, unlock Official D. He will be a military commander with powerful command abilities for gunpowder units, similar in function to Official C.

Goal of the Changes: With only two economic-focused officials, the late-game economy becomes more manageable for the player. The focus shifts towards integrating powerful, unique military commanders in the later stages, making official management strategic and engaging throughout the entire match.
