Sorry if my english sucks.
Okay, I think the options got their good points of view its true, the meaing about “would be more natural and realistic if the view was changed to a perspective one”; I meant, as designer I think that’s something you have to do first if you are planning on do a remake of the game (you’re gonna find a way to make something different but keeping the essentials things of the older version), but as someone who has played Age Of Empires I,II,III, Mythology, all those expansions, even more, playing Online for years, It wouldn’t be Age Of Empires If you change the perspective, beacuase that’s one of the most beatiful, and SIMPLE ways to make you play in a easy way such a complex game, (its my opinion) but when you realesed AOE3 I decided to stop playing it, and I thinked that something in the easiest and simple way to play and how they told me the history in AOE changed; btw, I dont know if you get it; less is more, if you make more easy the way to understand the interface its gonna be easiear to play the game, srry Its hard to me to explain it I speak spanish haha, btw If you ae gonna make like a change in the perspective and there’s people who dont like it, simple, make an option to choose you’re way, you wanna play, think in everybody, and make it in a simple way.

Look at all of these goobers throwing their feces at the OP for having a difference of opinion. Here’s my opinion: people hung up on nostalgia and their jaded version of the past are what ruin remakes of games. I’ve seen it happen before. If all you want is a higher resolution of the original AOE game, then you are an idiot.
That would be as bad as paying for Starcraft Remastered
I am one of those guys that is going to buy SC Remastered

For the thousandth time: AoE DE is NO remake. It’s a polished version of the original game. It’s even in the name: “AoE Definitive EDITION”. Edition! You get that? It’s a new edition of the game. But NOT A FUCKIN REMAKE.
I think we should make a copy-paste FAQ type thing for “repeat threads”. There is no need to get angry here, as generally the AoE community wasn’t an angry one
You can only expect repeat threads and wild suggestions when there are 150k people signing up. You can also expect many people to not do any research, or still think that this is a totally new game etc. The FAQ should explain what, and also why, in a short form.

Won’t work, there is no solution - Apart from gaining a basic respect for people in general.
As I said before it’s easy to be lazy; You could literally make the entire 1st page of the forums sticky FAQ threads… Will people skip to page 2 and post a new post that’s already been covered? Damn straight they will, because people…
The issue is that when people attach their own personality and self-worth to a game that they like, any opposing suggestion or critic of that game becomes an attack against the actual person. Which is a sign of the weak minded.
To all the Purists/Elitists/Fanboys/Old-Timers etc etc - Control your beta brains to not be triggered by what essentially is a silly question. One that could be answered with patience, without the pussy-level passive aggression.
MedusaAchse5043 - All you needed to do what just ignore the thread. Or actually deal with the fact that people have different opinions to you and be respectful about it.
Also “D_amn” is filter worthy? Are you ■■■■■■■ with me?

You know what would be extremely respectful? People using their brains before posting stupid threads like this one. It would be also very nice, if People understood that demanding a 3D camera for a 2D game is not an “opinion” but complete bullshit.
Oh, and to the one who flagged one of my comments: I think you are retarded. But that’s just my OPINION (hahahahah), pls respect that (or leave this thread).

Oh dear, I’ll just leave you to think about what you’ve just posted. It isn’t going to be productive to anyone if you carry on like that.
Often the fundamental disagreement in these threads is that different people come here to have different conversations. We end up talking past each other.
Some discuss and suggest sizable changes and improvements to the original game on the theory that the Developers might incorporate them and if an idea is good enough, then we fans have some kind of duty to shout from the rooftops.
Others constrain their suggestions to more focused tweaks to the original game on the theory that the Developers are not going to make sizable changes so we should use any attention the Developers pay to the forum to make a strong case on a winnable issue.
Neither set of ideas is wrong, but arguably the second set is more realistic, especially given what has been announced about AoEDE. However, whether a specific idea falls into one or the other category is often kind of a gray area.

Well said, Andy.
Just to confirm my position on the subject in case it’s a bit foggy to some - I know it’s going to be Ortho and I’m fine with it. It is indeed an integral part of how the game-play works.
However, I appreciated EdgiestHat59453’s input regardless. When AoM and AoEIII used the Perspective cam, I frankin’ loved the evolution and hoped that it would stick to the point where we DID see AoE & AoK released under a new light.

It’s obviously a pipe dream, but it would be nothing short of glorious to see AOE’s 3-D models in true 3-D, as they were originally rendered.
It’s probably not nearly technically feasible due to the sheer number of polys
Just stop. Nobody is change anything. You must still dream.

Would be glorious indeed.

Easy roads rarely lead to anything beyond mediocre.
Even if it was to decide whether or not to stick to the old camera or change it to 3d, i would stick with 2d 4k graphics any day. They just look nicer and are not distracting to the eyes of the player as i find the 3d art to be when playing an aoe-style rts.
Unless you can ensure every object and terrain is very clear and easy to be recoginized, orthographic camera is usually better for a RTS game. I don’t like the 3D graphics of AoM and AoE3 because they always make me confused.
