ya they want us to speculate what will be the features of byzantines from that picture
Maybe Tarascans will get into AOE2 too. Would be great. Chimu and Tarascans would be no-brainers for AOE2. Hope that AOE4 will at least cover one of the three pop culture Precolumbian civs (Inca/Aztec/Maya).
But I am worried that it’ll be only latin and I will be so disappointed if that’s the case.
So only 1 image and that’s it??
lol, yes Rhomaion would have been more accurate, most people know it as Byzantium though. And it still need to be differentiated from “actual Rome”.
Wait until you see it ingame instead of a low res early photo. It will most likely look better or not be an issue
True, I don’t get why they didn’t fix it for AOE2:DE. I’m mostly an AOE2 player, but it bothers me every time when I play Byzantines there. Not to mention the same issue with Italians and Goths. Voice acting for Portuguese isn’t great either (some spelling errors) and some of the South East Asian civs also have microphone popping and other bad audio. The Inca voice acting feels rather amateur.
Just played today another AOE4 game after a long break and I think that the voice acting there is great. I’m not the biggest fan of some of their creative decisions like adding reverb too much, but they’ve clearly put in more effort in AOE4 on that regard than in AOE2 I must admit.
Hope we get some Hikanatoi or Varagian units
I’ll go get the Japan photo, the water looks bad, here is the high res from steam. I swear its the same for the aqueduct.
This is a gross simplification of the nomenclature of the Byzantine Empire.
On top of that, barely anybody alive outside of historical scholars will know what they referred to themselves as at the time.
This is like quibbling that William the Conqueror was Norman, and that therefore to call the English English is a grave insult by the dev team. It’s quibbling.
Yeah I agree! I should be more excited than this but all I can think of is how much they will fail making it a 100% speaking Latin civ with no references to Greek stuff.
But fingers crossed they have done a proper historical study this time around.
I don’t know why but when it comes to the eastern roman empire people are so confused to the history behind it and automatically assume its Roman as in Rome the capital from the western side of the empire but its really two different parts of the same empire.
The eastern was more greek influenced in almost everything. Religion, language etc.
mimimimi mimimi mimimii.
Some guys here are molding about everything huh
Not a proper historical study, everything you said it is litteraly in the first wikipedia paragraph.
But I am excited to see new civ mechanics.
Is the other pictures gonna be revealed? Is that it for today?
Yes but why so many people ignore Greece and just assume this is 100% Rome and latin related? Its so silly.
From the Wikipedia page:
“The Byzantine Greeks were the Greek-speaking Eastern Romans throughout Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages.[1] They were the main inhabitants of the lands of the Byzantine Empire (Eastern Roman Empire), of Constantinople and Asia Minor (modern Turkey), the Greek islands, Cyprus, and portions of the southern Balkans, and formed large minorities, or pluralities, in the coastal urban centres of the Levant and northern Egypt. Throughout their history, the Byzantine Greeks self-identified as Romans (Greek: Ῥωμαῖοι, romanized: Rhōmaîoi), but are referred to as “Byzantine Greeks” in modern historiography. Latin speakers identified them simply as Greeks or with the term Romaei.”
With Italian mercenaries and Vikings I suppose
Can you tell me when it will be released?
U got a degree in it?
Wasnt Justinian the last Latin speaking emperor, so if age 4 starts around 750AD its welll into the Isaurian Dynasty so i hope to god they are speaking greek lol
Regardless of everything I am really hyped to be getting more civs, both Japan and Byzan seems really interesting and I know this will add to the game by creating so many new matchups and strats. Glad the game keeps getting expacs, and I hope it keeps being added.
