I see it more for AoE 3 (since at that time it was the golden age of piracy)

The Golden Age of Piracy is a common designation for the period between the 1650s and the 1730s, when maritime piracy was a significant factor in the histories of the North Atlantic and Indian Oceans.

I think there was a pirate mod for HD in the past.

The issue is that in the Middle Ages you had the Vikings and the Normans (Sicilians) and they are already in the game… a Viking campaign would not be bad…

While yes, but this includes a particular type and location of piracy.

It completely ignores Baltic Sea pirates or Mediteranean pirates. Or Pirates along the Indonesia, Chinese sea etc.

After all, Vikings were Pirates, Moorish pirates wrecked the Mediteranean during the middle ages (Barbarossa was a Muslim pirate that was later hired by Ottomans), and lets not forget about the widespread piracy during the ancient times, where everyone who had ship engaged in piracy.

Not to be confused with Frederick Barbarossa. That really tripped me up while I was writing my Frederick Barbarossa vs Captain Barbossa rap battle. Perhaps the other Barbarossa would’ve been a better match…

Yes Yes of course…

Yes, he is known as Hizir Reis… Hizir Reis , also known as Hayreddin Barbarossa, is a hero in the Algiers Historical Battle in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition .
