Issue:
Players are able to select the colour of their opponent in ranked 1v1 lobbies.
I have not checked ranked TG lobbies to verify whether or not the problem also exists there.
Trigger Event:
Ranked 1v1 lobby
Repro Steps:
- Queue up for a ranked 1v1
- Match with an opponent
- Click on the “Player” colour selected next to your opponent’s name
- Select a colour
- Click “Ready”
- Launch into the game, see your opponent is the colour you selected

Hi @ZagorathAus !
We didn’t have this tracked, now we do!
Apparenly it also happens in regular MP lobbies, so I mentioned both in our ticket
Thanks for your report!
This also happens in team ranked; really annoying :p. Changing colors is a nice feature but it should apply to every player individually.
I agree, although I think the way AoM:R does colour selection is way worse than both the way AoE4 does it, and the way AoE2:DE does it.
In AoE2, you are randomly placed into odd or even colours. Odd colours are cool colours like blue and green, even colours are warm like red and yellow. In team games, relative position is determined by number as well: the biggest and smallest numbers are your flanks, and the middle numbers are your pockets. So you can choose among your team who is in which position.
In AoE4, by default no colour is selected. You can then just freely select your colour on a first-come, first-serve basis. Colours have no significance. If you don’t manually select a colour, you are automatically given one once the game launches from the colours not already chosen.
But in AoM, you get given colours by default, and then you can change them if you want. The problem with this is that if your opponent gets a colour you want, you can’t select that colour. Even if your opponent doesn’t actually care about it at all and is happy going with the default.
