PLC and Danes Revolutions (including, but not limited to Prussian discussion)

Hello, this topic for discussing the PLC and Denmark revolution options. Please, take into consideration that my history knowledge abut these areas on those times are limited for me, so be kind to me and others users. My suggestions or discussion ideas

Poland

By Immigration United States, Canada, Brasil and Argentina
By annexation Prussia! While a little bit overstretched as a revolution, annexation of PLC territories could be cool to have to finally get Prussia in-game. That could be an option also for Germany, because Prussia is of the table off by Tilannus word (Dont focus too much the topic on Prussia pls, only if is correct or not)

Denmark

By Immigration United States, Canada
By Independence Norway

Woud be cool to have Greek revolution for Ottomans, and also if a dev reads this, pls fix the Portuguese Ordinança Riflemen description that is using the Landwehr one.

Livonia/Estonia could be an option for both Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Russia and even Germans, they all operated in the area.

Haiti could be an option for both Denmark and Poland. Famously polish legionaries operating on Haiti joined the slaves side. For Denmark there where a few slave rebellions on the Danish west indies.

Romania could work for Poland considering Moldovas history with the country.

Ukraine could work for Poland as well, considering the Ukrainians where one of the largest ethnic group within the commonwealth.

Holstein could be an option for Denmark considering the 1840s-1864, Holstein was in open rebellion against Denmark and Denmark also actively wanted to separate from Holstein.

Pan-scandinavianism is an option for Denmark and Sweden, basically being a movement to unite Scandinavia in a similar way to Germany, give it the flag of the Kalmar union and some Kalmar union references in the deck.

Prussia could not be an option. Poles revolted from their occupiers, not the other way around.

Livonia
Liberia

Norway

Why Liberia?

Denmark had the colony of the Danish Gold Coast and Poland had Courlander Gambia. Liberia is the main “independent” colonial state in the region so it could be a catch all revolt for all the various West African colonies.

What about iceland, wouldn’t there be a way work it in the game as a revolution?
(even if in real life there wasn’t a revolution and the actual independence of outside Aoe3 timeframe)

Now that’s my kind of talk… I just hope they expand a little Egypt revolution too… It’s the only one lacking now… Khevite can’t hold alone.

I prefer that Liberia be a separate civ that adds American units with Polish, Danish and Ashanti units…

I find it difficult…perhaps they prefer to stay with revolutions of the period…

We have Canada as a revolution, among other countries that didn’t revolt during AoE3 period, the introduction of Iceland wouldn’t be much different

Canada had several revolts during the 19th century, so it fits well in AoE 3 as revolution…

My point is not whether Canada should be or not a revolution in the game.
It is that Iceland could be one as well, with or without an armed revolution.

Ah well, if you take it that way, yes it can be… but you would have to make a viable Icelandic “revolution”…

Goes to show the Revolution button is far too specific.
It should just be Independence or something - just a term that is broad that applies to Revolutions, peaceful splintering off and Self-ruled Dominions.

I think that Iceland isnt interesting enough. They hadn’t/have a real army

I think the Icelandic Revolution could be a cool easter egg with Old Norse content - a reference to the Nords from AoM and the Vikings from AoE 2. Viking units in AoE 3 could be really cool.

Revolutions for:

Danes civ

  1. Norway (shared with Swedes civ)
  2. Livonia (shared with Swedes and Russians civs)
  3. Iceland
  4. Indonesia
  5. Haiti

Poles civ

  1. Ukraine \ or Ruthenia (shared with Russians civ)
  2. Romania
  3. Haiti
  4. Hungary
  5. USA or Livonia

No please, maybe only as cheat units

Besides that, Ghana could be an interesting choice:

  • Already Akan and neighbour Dahomey and Yoruba units from African Royals

  • Could work for British, Sweden, Germany, Dutch and Danish. (Some are stretched)

Indonesia doesn’t really fit. The Andaman islands aren’t culturally or politically part of Indonesia.

HA HA HA.

It’s funny because eveyone shared the same hope for this Norway Revolution (Even me):

“Norway was united with Denmark for the entire period of the game (1546-1905) so in theory as a “Revolution” separating into independent Norway en IV age would be pretty cool and historically correct.”

The curious thing is that Norway was already united to Denmark since the Early Middle Ages under the name of Union Kalmor (1397), but Sweden left and, well, they changed its name.

And Lithuania was united with Poland since the Middle Ages, in fact the AoE II campaign crosses several scenarios between both civs because their kings were relatives and even took turns ruling both countries.

Honestly, it’s also funny that the DLC comes with two civs that were “Double Confederations”:

- 1.- Poland - Lithuania
- 2.- Denmark - Norway

In fact it is curious, because AoE II as it covers the Early Middle Ages (476-1000) has the Scandinavian Viking period, but so far it does not have its post-Viking period: There is no civ Denmark, Norway, Sweden, not even the Kalmar Union in Aoe2:DE, but I don’t think the same will happen for Aoe IV.

That makes me wonder: For AoE IV, what would these Confederation civs be like? Would they also come as a confederation? Maybe they would come out under these names:

  • 1.- Norway / Vikings.- With Landmarks of Norway and Vikings prior to 1397
  • 2.- Denmark / Kalmor Union.- With Landmarks of Denmark and some of Norway post 1397.
  • 3.- Sweden.- It was Free and the Kalmor Union tried to become independent more than 10 times and achieved it
  • 4.- Poland-Lithuania.- Although “De iure” they were not united until 1569, in reality “De facto” they were already united since 1385.

The good thing about this DLC is that it might give me ideas for more unique units for my Denmark concept in the Imperial Age (IV).
