PLC and Danes Revolutions (including, but not limited to Prussian discussion)

HA HA HA.

It’s funny because eveyone shared the same hope for this Norway Revolution (Even me):

“Norway was united with Denmark for the entire period of the game (1546-1905) so in theory as a “Revolution” separating into independent Norway en IV age would be pretty cool and historically correct.”

The curious thing is that Norway was already united to Denmark since the Early Middle Ages under the name of Union Kalmor (1397), but Sweden left and, well, they changed its name.

And Lithuania was united with Poland since the Middle Ages, in fact the AoE II campaign crosses several scenarios between both civs because their kings were relatives and even took turns ruling both countries.

Honestly, it’s also funny that the DLC comes with two civs that were “Double Confederations”:

- 1.- Poland - Lithuania
- 2.- Denmark - Norway

In fact it is curious, because AoE II as it covers the Early Middle Ages (476-1000) has the Scandinavian Viking period, but so far it does not have its post-Viking period: There is no civ Denmark, Norway, Sweden, not even the Kalmar Union in Aoe2:DE, but I don’t think the same will happen for Aoe IV.

That makes me wonder: For AoE IV, what would these Confederation civs be like? Would they also come as a confederation? Maybe they would come out under these names:

  • 1.- Norway / Vikings.- With Landmarks of Norway and Vikings prior to 1397
  • 2.- Denmark / Kalmor Union.- With Landmarks of Denmark and some of Norway post 1397.
  • 3.- Sweden.- It was Free and the Kalmor Union tried to become independent more than 10 times and achieved it
  • 4.- Poland-Lithuania.- Although “De iure” they were not united until 1569, in reality “De facto” they were already united since 1385.

The good thing about this DLC is that it might give me ideas for more unique units for my Denmark concept in the Imperial Age (IV).
