There is. You can put random civilization and check the techtree to see your pick while others won’t see. You can switch it to something else without letting others see by double clicking on the random civ again and then wait for few seconds and check the tech tree again and you will see it’s changed. It’s not straight forward but it works.
That shouldnt work that way. If there is a match with everyone going random but players can know their own civ, the game lose the fun.
About OP topic, it should be allowed at the host menu, before other players can join, to avoid host to enable/disable to have a look in others civs.
