Firstly I would like to recognize and appreciate the work and love devs are putting in the game, but please devs, make the #1 priority bug fixing in multiplayer of Age of Mythology. Since all the content for AoM premium was released with japan civs, maybe it’s time to change the focus entirely to bug fixing for now?
We have long-standing bugs from launch yet to be fixed. Unit pathing is not working properly, shift queue commands are sometimes being ignored, scouts randomly stop scouting, units getting stuck inside tree-lines, map resource generation sometimes being very unfair to 1 player etc.
These bugs are ruining the game for many people, myself included, and it has been really tough enjoying the game with so many bugs occurring every game. Honestly, even balance could wait a little bit if we can have bugs squashed once and for all, especially being so close from a S-tier tournament.
If the Minotaur threw them there, that’s fine.
I’ve never had any problems with trees. All my stuck were on cliffs. This happens approximately once every 4 games.
No it is not fine. Trees should have collision to prevent that kind of bug happening. And it happens not only with Minotaurs throwing people in there but also Anubite jumps and some other situations.
For me, this only happens when one mob is pushing another against a cliff. Typically, one unit gets pushed onto a texture that’s unwalkable. But with Anubis, there’s no such problem. They simply don’t jump far enough, and the ability is wasted.
I totally agree with you. The game should prioritize being as bug-free as possible before adding new modes and features, rather than the current situation where every update fixes some bugs but introduces a bunch of new ones. The developers can’t keep operating in this dysfunctional state. How can you build a skyscraper without a solid foundation? I don’t want to see the day when the game has almost lost its popularity, yet the bugs still aren’t fixed—and by then, the developers definitely won’t bother fixing them anymore. So right now, the developers should show determination and take drastic measures to tackle the spaghetti code. Do they really expect players to deal with that mess of tangled code themselves?
Maybe with a youtube video made by someone influential on the community can help the devs to track down these bugs once and for all? Multiplayer is plagued with bugs and seriously lacking polishing for months now!
I’ve watched it and while it does cover the most annoying bugs, there’s still more to be fixed outside of that youtube list. One I can think of is not being able to see in the tooltip the cost when trying to build walls.
omg this is so frustrating. I’ll tell a gatherer to build an ox cart and shift queue gold, then I go and look at my scout for a while. When I look back, I discover my gatherer and two dwarves are both long mining gold because the gatherer never bothered to actually build the ox cart.
This video perfectly explains why I sometimes find the game controls awkward, even though I couldn’t tell why before. The devs should really focus on these bug fixes – they did a good job for creating new contents i.e. the two dlcs, fixing bugs should not be too difficult for them.
I also totally agree with the last point that modded lobbies are not visible. If I subscribe to an Original Unit Sounds mod then I will be basically forbidden from multiplayer… Like why, using different unit VA is not cheating… Devs should really make the modding system more flexible.
Line of sight glitching, especially with appolo upgrades, rendering units useless. Abilities that affect lighting also seem to glitch line of sight.
Units getting stuck in all sorts of places, but especially trees and cliffs. It happens literally every game due to the abundance of throw/stun/spread abilities.
Units ignoring player commands when they are being attacked, especially true for melee units, they get aggroed very easy by something.
Units picking some really weird paths to do their job, especially vilagers going waaaaay out of their scan range to gather resources in enemy bases.
Id also want to add that music is still bugged in arena of the gods and stops whenever chatGPTGaia starts talking and this has been the case since the beginning. These really should be simple bugs to fix.
They should fix the bug regarding the poor distribution of gold mines. Sometimes the player and their ally only have 1 gold mine near their base, while the rivals have 4 or 5 gold mines around theirs. This bug is very common on maps like Giza, Ghost Lake, and Okuchichibu.
Also, a bit surprisingly, it seems no one has mentioned this:
the auto place farm is not functioning very well – you can only auto place 8 ~ 9 farms by clicking the town center, the rest of the farms needs to be placed manually.
In contrast, AoE 2 farms can be auto placed arbitrarily far enough and tiles very well. In a recent patch they even made auto farm place faster - a few clicks can place 10+ farms.
I also have the same feeling, Although I think it has something to do with netwrork. I have a shitty internet and I have to click many times so I can place down farms but in offline skirmieshes they work fine.
