Please give us an East Asia DLC asap

You are always so negative. Wait for next year. For sure there will be a classic DLC.

And maybe 3 Chronicle DLCs. Since the civ concept is from Rome at war and now the basis is done, we mainly need the campaigns to be made.

I speak truth. It sounds negative.

honestly you really are complaining for nothing. Classical style DLCs will come which dev team confirmed it and now they just left the job to R@W and CaptureAge team. Which they themselves are good enough for more AoE2 contents. Also this is the only way to reverse the damage of Return Of Rome DLC and Victors and Vanquished DLC.
Also 21 scenarios and 3 civ DLC are far better than what they have been doing like 2 new civs with 3(3 * 5=15 roughly) campaigns. When in past it was 4 new civs and 4(4 * 5=20 roughly) campaigns. Even price was bad enough.

Having radical changes and civs in a separate game mode to keep AoE2 faithful to what it is, is not the best course of action…?

They did not create the spinoff, it is done by a separate team which doesn’t know what they are doing. There is some rules and standards that every DLC followed and it has not been followed. I call this unfaithful

I want an Asian DLC for Chronicles please!

No seriously that would be cool like an official 3 Kingdoms campaign.

Also a Medieval Asian DLC too. East Asia hasn’t gotten anything new since the Koreans were added or if we are generous the Vietnamese.
Also East Asia doesn’t even have any regional units at all.
If we consider Paladins a regional unit then East Asia is the only region without a regional unit.

If it wasn’t for the unique units the Chinese, Japanese and Koreans could basically be Europeans.
It would be a dream to see them getting a regional Infantry line (we already got more then enough regional cavalry and the Archery Range is very crowded).

Care to explain what was not followed?

Yes, i’d love to see an East Asian or Balkan DLC

I’ve been wondering the same. Late last year we were promised a year full of surprises.

I don’t care what they say, V&V was not an experiment, it was a great panic moment make something as fast as you can. If they were experimenting they’d have been new scenarios built form the ground up, not whatever filthy had lying around. And no new assets of any kind? Yeah V&V was made very quickly to fill a hole in the schedule.

I think chronicles was intended for early this year, and dlc 5 was intended for the anniversary. Chronicles was delayed so V&V was rushed out, then FE was stolen for AOM so they couldn’t work on the anniversary dlc so that was delayed, but thankfully chronicles was now ready so we get something for the anniversary.

If the next doc comes out in the first half of next year and looks like it SHOULD have been the anniversary doc I think this will all make a lot more sense.

That’s why DLC 5 was missing. Is BFG named as DLC 5 or DLC 7?

I was thinking Chronicles was intended for early this year as well and was delayed so they put V&V out as a stop gap, but are we sure Chronicles wasn’t that “DLC 5” file? Is that still there separate from Chronicles in the files that y’all were checking?

frankly, no i’m not sure.

However I know a lot of RoR stuff isn’t in the main game files but rather within the /modes/Pompeii (or something similar not at my pc ATM) folder. I suspect Chronicles is going to be another mode and it seems that it was decided very early on what this DLC would be, a different mode and not a “normal” dlc.

so I assume we’ll find the files for this dlc in modes/chronicles or something like that, instead of in the main files where dlc 5 is missing.

But we’ll know more when the dlc is released and we can see where the files ended up.

I wish too but honestly I don’t have high hopes

based on Zetnus’ checks, all the new graphic assets are available in the AOE2DE main game and editor.

@Tyranno13 - do you know if Chronicles is the DLC5?

I do not. We will only know when it’s officially released.

Something I am VERY happy about. Considering the amount of times I wanted something simple like a hedge row or a weapon rack while making campaign levels.

I’m especially looking forward to the Hellenic architecture set being available for the editor, as I have a scene where such a thing would be useful in a level, but I originally had to settle with the Mediterranean set. Not anymore!

I am slightly optimistic about the possibility of adding vineyards as harvestable forage bushes. There are some.

It would be really cool to animate Bible scenes using the game, and AoE1 is simply too restrictive and weird-looking. Having access to both AoE2 and Chronicles assets in the same editor, as well as the occasional AoE1 asset, would be very useful.

we need a cross now as editor asset. We have heads and corpses on poles, so why not.

Now that Chronicles is out, are we able to confirm whether it was DLC 5 or not?
