Please improve double clicking villager behaviour

In AoE2, you have the option to change what “Villager Double-Click” is set to.

You can have it select all villagers on screen or only select idle villagers on screen.

In Age of Mythology: Retold, further options were added. You can also have double-click select villagers in a bunch doing the same thing, for example double click to select all villagers on one gold mine.

This is great.

AoE4 only has the option to double click to select all villagers. It is very hard, if you have a large number of idle vills, to select all the idle vills in one area at once to retask them.

Please patch the game to at least allow us to double click to select all idle vills, like in AoE2. Even better would be if you borrowed the behaviour from AoM:R.

I would really like this feature a lot.

Today I found out that you can select “all idle villagers in proximity (or similar - I play the german version)”
The standard for that is “CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+V” - which is really funny to try with one hand.
I changed that to Shift+Mouse5, because Mouse5 is already set to select one idle villager by me.

Once villagers, or groups of villagers are about 6 tiles apart from each other they seem to be considered a different group. Ressources carried don’t seem to change the behaviour.

But if it works with double-click in AOE2 they could add it here too, as a choice

AoM:Retold also has a setting to allow the player to ‘select all idle villagers that were doing same task’ when pressing the select idle villager hotkey which works really nicely I’ve found. It’s a really good balance between selecting a single idle villager and all idle villagers. Really good for selecting all idle villagers at a finished gold mine in one click.

There is a hotkey for inactive villagers and inactive villagers in area, and I use it
