I am so sick of watching my AI ally just sit there with a huge army doing nothing while the enemy gang up on me and demolish me. The worst part is when it’s the enemies the come to each other’s aid, so why are they specifically programmed to ignore when a player ally gets attacked?
You, me, and other Skirmish mode players are in luck…
From the Beta Patch notes:
The AI will no longer constantly deny your attack requests via the “player communication” window. Selecting a position on the water will now actually trigger a naval attack if possible.
Improved the reliability of the AI using its army to either attack or defend, lowering the chance of an idle army.
A very welcome change. I was sick and tired of Tokugawa saying he “has no men to spare” when his entire army is just sitting in his base.
Now when the DLC/patch actually arrives I do plan to test out the AI in skirmish mode and see how much they have really changed. I don’t expect them to always say “yes” to attack requests, but they should usually lean towards agreeing with it.
