I see smart pings like “defend position” or “attack x” as a good way to cross language barriers. This is undermined by the fact, that the language, in that the taunt will be shown, is determined by the sender not the person that received the massage.
So for example: If a Korean and a German play a team game with the game version in their native languages and the Korean player marks a position for defense, the German player will receive that massage in Korean.
I would prefer, if the recipients language selection determines the language they see the smart pings and hopefully taunts in the future.
This could not only make them not only make them a funny addition to the game, but also a tool for crossing language barriers, which is in my opinion a must have in a player base that diverse.
