I am reporting a bug based off of a YouTube video. I do not own AoE2 DE.

REPRODUCTION STEPS
Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:
-
(Conjectured, as I don’t have the game) Start a map that has a lot of different elevations, with all visible.
-
With a villager, click to build a palisade. Move pointer to edge of the map. At intermediate elevations, it probably seems to act normal. At very high or very low elevations (or maybe just one of these), it acts weird. It seems that it calculates an XY map coordinate based on the pointer position on the screen that uses a default elevation, rather than the elevation of the closest map tile.
EXPECTED RESULT
Elevation at the edge of the map, outside of the map boundaries, is detected as the same elevation of as the closest pointer, when converting pointer position on the screen to an XY map coordinate.
IMAGE
I don’t have the game, but I have known for a long time that “walling at the edge of the map works weird”. Until now, I did not know more, as most experienced players would just automatically work around it. It wasn’t until a new player tried to wall at the edge of the map, and caused actions that seemed conspicuously wrong, that I understood this problem. At 5:28, look closely (slow motion, or frame-by-frame with “,” and “.”) at how the mouse pointer moves at the edge of the map, and how the game translates mouse (cursor) position to XY coordinates:
