Then it comes other civs that nobody (or few) expected like Malta. What is your bet? I really would like non European

Civs usually come in related groups. Persians and Moroccans really don’t have much in common other than being Muslim but not Arab. If you’re going to lump those together there would probably need to be a 3rd civ like Egyptians or Omanis to bridge the gap.

Another central Asian civ alongside Persians would make more sense. It could be Uzbeks, Afghans, or maybe splitting India to Mughals, etc to complete the gunpowder empires.

Pairing with Morocco could be Mandinka/Mali for more of an African theme.

Voted for Poland, but I’d kinda like to see Poland-Lithuania Commonwealth and Persia.

The dream one for me would be 3 completely unrelated civs. Different regions, nothing in common, but somehow a DLC title that covers them in one really broad way.

Persia - The long-lasting West Asian powerhouse
Shona States - The strong Mutapa and Rozvi Empires in Africa.
Tlingit - One of the most powerful North West Pacific native people with a perchant for coast raiding.

DLC title: 'Powers of Some Regions’

Yeah, I’m aware that they are united only by being muslims. Ethiopia and Hausa also were very away from each other too

But they’re on the same continent at least. And still much closer together than Persia/Morocco.

I don’t have anything against Poland and Denmark, but the last DLC was already about Europe, at least give us other stuff before giving more Europe.

Persians + Poles-Lithuanians

Persians + Kazakhs

Danmark would be super boring, it’s absolutely not a priority compared to Persians and PLs.

you have to come to acceptance that a Poland DLC would include Denmark.

The last DLC was European, I think they like mixing things up and not work on the same region twice in a row.

Persians seem like a good guess. I’ve seen it pointed out how, if Persia is implemented like an Asian civ, then Poles and Danes would be consulate options (which uses revolt flags and explains last year’s leak). Kazakhstan would be an interesting choice for a second civ, and would seem a logical fit for a Persian DLC.

Pros of Denmark and PLC:

  • They dont need to make new building sets, they share also European unit roster
  • Some voices could be reused from Polish Aoe 2, maybe?
  • Denmark and the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia (under Polish Lithuana Commonwealth) are the last colonial european powers that we don’t have in-game.

Cons:

  • Again more European civs
  • The colonial attempts were little significant, specially for PLC

Pros of Persia and Morocco

  • Persia long fan requested one
  • Non European civs, specially for Persia that could be designed as an Asian one
  • Persia bridges the civs between TAD and vanilla, Morocco between Hausa and mediterranean civs
  • More Camels and Elephants are always welcomed. But I hope if they are done, they won’t go full TAD exotism
  • An opportunity to learn about this civs putting aside Eurocentrism
  • Some material could be reused for Morocco from campaigns, but Tilanus on discord said that it really helps much
  • Some voices can be reused for Morocco?
  • New opportunities for central Europe and Central Asia maps, maybe some minor civ included

Cons:

  • 2 completely new build set for 2 civs, including wonders for Persians
  • Full new units needs to be designed unlike European civs
  • They arent tematically near, the only weak union is the muslim theme

Now we got Poland and Persia and we laugh

Nah they could just get Mediterranean sets.
Persia doesn’t have to have wonders.

Ottomans are also mostly European, but they got a lot of new unique units now compared to what they originally had.

Yeah I could see them not be part of the same DLC even though I think both of them are likely to be added to the game.

People tend to forget about Oman, which would be a perfect AoE3 civ, they even had colonies in Africa.

If you ask me, I would like to have the fullest painted map with civs if they are well designed. Oman is a gem that I learnt that I would like to see eventually.

Anyway back to this topic, I doubt that devs would make Morocco use Mediterranean buildset, Persia won’t for sure.

Why should Morocco not use the Mediterranean one? They are right next to Spain and Portugal and also the Ottomans and Italians use that set too.

The set would be pretty out of place for Persia, that’s true but they could use the Indian set.

Not the best but possible if they really can’t afford hiring people to make 3D models.

The Wild Fields has elements of colonization, and it could be somehow represented under a potential P-L civ.

As pointed out in the vid, the skin change for the mosque in the last patch is a strong indicator for morocco, to make the historic battle coherent with a future dlc civ

It might depend overall on what the question was. If their boss said “this is probably the last DLC we’re doing for AoE3, what are the most requested civs?” Than we probably get Poland and Persia. If their boss said “pick a theme” than it’s probably either Poland Denmark or Persia and something.

This is an interesting point, and might not rule out Poland as the second civ. This also wouldn’t rule out Persia and Korea. But currently all the consulate civs are in the game.

What is will be interesting, is whether we get any hints later. I think any hints are likely to give it away. After all, Polish and Persia units look rather different.
