I will turn it off, and that new gold circle thing at the top that gives you… whatever those presets do.
@TheAchronic , I respect your opinion, but I don’t see it that way. I don’t think autoquee would have any impact on those of us who have been playing Age for a long time, but it would have a huge positive impact on new players.
He has no problem with it being implemented in quick games, so please implement it already.
And in the end, if tournaments don’t allow auto queue, there will be no problem for him, it’s like the walls in feudal age, tthese are prohibited that many have not done, just for that reason
+1 for auto queue for any age title… I think it would even be great to have it for military and ladder but at least for villagers it makes very much sense
how exactly auto queue destroyed AoM?
like, what do You mean in practice?
No one can argue against adding it for skirmish/custom and campaign at the very least. That’s all I’d like.
I agree. We absolutely need to reassess where our priorities for RTS are. If we want to grow as a community, we have to be willing to change and let new players in.
I wouldn’t use it, but if you can toggle it, then I agree. Maybe it can be useful for some people.
Not using it would put you at a disadvantage, because your opponent has less things that stretch their attention span.
There are specific moments where having that would not be useful. Sometimes you need to priorize army over villagers when defending, or you need to queue a Knight before another villager, or the auto queue can just delay your build order somehow, etc.
I don’t really care so much about that if they add it, I wouldn’t really see it as an advantange or disandvantage, but I think people should have the option.
In a real world scenario, you would pretty much never stop making villagers. It’s just not something you do. Saying you don’t care if opponent has this option is like saying you don’t care if opponent’s units micro on their own while yours don’t.
If you can toggle it, you can do it or not, depending on what you want. I never forget creating villagers, so it is something I don’t really need or care. Comparing it against units micro makes no sense. What is the problem if I don’t want to use it? Lol.
You may never forget creating villagers, but if opponent attacks you in 3 places, and you have to do a bunch of other things at the same time, something will suffer. You attention is not infinite.
I don’t know where do you want to get with that and I don’t really care. I already said what I though and supported the idea. Bye
If you don’t have anything else to add, it’s probably better not to reply at all. Where I’m trying to “get with that”? I’m trying to explain why it’s a terrible idea and why you haven’t thought this through at all. Auto-vill queue would force everyone to use it to be on even ground.
Then use it (in the hypothetical future where it exists on PC).
I like having skill checks in competitive games.
It depends what you mean by “skill”, to be honest. Many other competitive genres (including MOBAs, the one closest to RTS as a genre) have moved away from pure APM to “meaningful” APM to determine an actual skill ceiling.
Regardless, I don’t think the game lacks skill checks with this feature in place, and a more skilled player is still going to be able to force multiply Villager usage far better than anyone relying on this as a crutch (in competitive games).
In RTS games attention is a limited resource. Removing a feature that strains your attention is like removing a ball from a circus juggler. The skill involved diminishes, because the juggler has to pay attention to fewer items.
