Whilst I don’t really like the way @Akleoni is interacting here. I also don’t like it the other way around which is in my eyes provoking such responses. And I don’t like putting people on pillories either.
I also think it’s too much ado about too little. And the way I described it how silly it is should have been enough feedback for removing it.
These topics get way too emotional way too fast in my opinion and it is because they already start unneccesarily emotional, having no real path out of it and provoke emotional responses from people who disagree with the sentiment.

IDK I have been in a lot of forums where this was normal. I didn’t really like it, but if he comes from there I can understand his reactions here. Whoever showed there any sign of such emotion would be immediately confronted like this - which lead to this being basically an initiation ritual for every new “complainer” entering the forum and then he was usually brought align and didn’t emotionolize that much in the future.
Was so in this forum some time ago also.

New players might not know how to use mods to get rid of it, so it could potentially turn them off from the game. There are also people who play on console, I’m not sure if they even have access to mods. They need to remove it, It’s very ugly and stress inducing

Yes, I think this is a genuine risk. I obviously don’t have data on this, but it seems more likely to reduce DLC sales than increase them to me.

I actually like having announcements in the menu, I don’t care about tournaments, but I like having DLC announcements or service and bug fix announcements.
They should start by writing dev diaries explaining the content they are adding/reworking and other decisions. A game that constantly gets new content needs dev diaries to communicate the intent.

I’m not sure whether it really breaches Steam’s advertising policy. Steam bans “requiring players to watch or otherwise engage with advertising in order to play”, so it really depends on one’s interpretation of that. Does seeing an advert in the corner of the screen count as “otherwise engaging” with it?

i know, but it’s probably worth a try. they have been pulling so much anti-consumer bullshit. between forced updates, monetization of community content, frequent crashes, and now ads I am just so sick of it.
