[poll] Should hero units take 5-10 pop space?

It’s interesting that it is so divided almost 50-50 in 1 vs 10 space.

Imo the heros only make sense when they are super pop efficient, so if you make it 5 or 10 space they can probably also just be left out. At least from a ranked play perspective.

It also looks to me that more people want heros in ranked than I may have had the impression before.

It seems to me that most people don’t want heroes in the game, but they also don’t want population space parity to be broken. This strikes me as a deceptive way of getting people to agree to Breaking pop space parity, potentially with the long-term objective of also changing other units like elephants.

Personally, I don’t have a huge issue with the existence of these units, but I do think it is wrong to call them heroes. Maybe leaders instead. Heroes are from myths and legends, leaders are from reality.

units taking more than 1 pop space is a reason to refund for you, but not all of the other stuff. very intelligent.

it’s not that strong to begin with. you’re limited to 1 of them.

Hero units should just not exist in ranked. Perhaps you could add this option to the poll?

There is no option for “Shouldn’t occupy pop space”.

I think there are few heroes.

Yes, pretty much. And steer clear of ad hominem attacks, please, per forum rules: community guidelines

There’s nothing conceptually wrong with command and control style units like this. The problems have more to do with presentation than anything, imo. After all, people aren’t overly offended by the Romans getting similar aoe buffs.

They shouldn’t even exist and I will delete the game permanently if they add 3 Kingdoms to base game.

Then you have 10 days to finish doing everything in the game, because I don’t think they plan to remove them before release.

I think he means if Three Kingdoms is treated like the first 3 DLC were, and added to the base game.

I’d rather nerf them not to be significantly stronger than a regular unit, though their cost efficiency is already dreadful (haven’t tested yet but it looks like they get soundly defeated by 3 paladins while costing as much as 6).

Oh, okay. That makes sense.

I hope by the time they decide to add later DLC civs to the base game, they’ll listen to the fans and move the 3Ks to a separate mode.

The 3 heroes should be named ‘Lord’ in multiplayer instead of specific persons, and the training cost should be +50% of the previous one if the population space has to be fixed at 1.

The kingdom may be able to enthron a new lord after the old one dies, but the increasing cost makes it increasingly difficult for the player to afford.

But will they actually be so in practice? And do the 3K civs have a strong post-imp without them? Adding a hero to an otherwise weak post-imp won’t make that post-imp OP. Especially with how expensive the heroes are.

From what I’m seeing, most of the power of the heroes is going to be in their aura. In terms of raw stats, they are punching far below their cost (losing to just a few units)
