Dude, literally no one cares about that problem but you. Move on. Play a different civilization against elephant civs.
Because peoples not only care about the gameplay.
U can clearly see this everywhere. Its also the historically background that is important for a lot of peoples.
It matters also for me, yeah i like most of the gameplay stuff about them. But they simple dont fit the aoe2 timeline. I dont wanna see them at all in the main game.
Maybe they can get some hero unit with 400 HP to counter elephants
Using those potential medieval civs as themasks of Three Kingdoms is disrespectful to them. They deserve their own civs, with a well-crafted tech tree, bonuses, and units just for them. They should be introduced in the future because their history and culture deserve to be introduced in the game, not introduced now because the game need them to cover up inappropriate content. In fact, this is by no means a super easy solution also. It will still take time to adjust some visual art, campaigns and even replace unsuitable units.
We canât stop Three Kingdoms content from appearing in the base game of AoE2 so far, but we shouldnât let them too become victims. If this were true I would be even more disappointed than I am now.
At the same time, even though they could have basically the same tech trees and can be renamed during the campaigns, the civs themselves are no longer the promised Three Kingdoms. Fans who paid for the Three Kingdoms theme and were looking forward to it will see their favorite civs replaced, which may make them feel cheated.
On the other hand, it has been proven that the Three Kingdoms content was originally developed as part of The Chronicles, and there are even assets left over in folders. They should restart the original purpose of the project that makes the Three Kingdoms in to The Chronicles, which might take less time and would truly make everyone happy.
Literally all I wanted was traditional campaigns and we keep getting this slop shoved down our throats. Iâm sick of it
You donât play a game simply to win in a cold and calculated manner.
You also play for the ambiance, the excitement of playing a certain civilization, and the fun, unique vibe that comes from controlling its units.
I enjoy playing most with Hussars, Cavalry Archers, and gunpowder units. The Spanish are also a good pick, but I find the Turks overall more interesting to play.
Given what we know about this DLC. It definitely should be postponed.
I havenât bought any DLC since The Mountain Royals, so I can wait a bit longer.
wise choice. Itâs been nothing but slop since then
Can someone please ping the devs in this thread?
It really feels like they donât care that both Reddit and the forum are on fire because of their recent decisions.
Itâs strange.
When there were just some moderate disagreements about say the AOE4 variant civ names and AOM god portraits, they responded and reacted.
When there is literally flame, they disappeared.
i get what u mean, but i see this as the best solution for not only us but also FE.
because i dont think they will do new civs soonish. these take a lot of time to do, but with the baseline of the 3kingdoms stuff they could actually make new civs with fewer work to do then working from scratch.
also i like most of the stuff they have, just the civs itself are wrong. from pure gameplay standpoint i like everyone. why waste them complet? we have only so many options to make a civ because they can´t produce them for infinited time. there is a limit of specific bonus combinations.
Yes, the devs need to see this.
- a map from the period of 1111 when the country of the Khitan (Mosctan Gur/Daeyo) had the largest territory
-
A map of 1142, when the Jin Dynasty (Amban Alchun/Daegeum), the country of the Jurchens, had the largest territory.
-
For reference, Attila, a Hun monarch, was published by the University of Copenhagen in 2018 as a mixed race between Iranian Skittians and the Huns, and the study was published in Nature, and the Huns also said that unlike the ruling class, the Huns were mixed with various races, including Skittai and Sarmatians, who are believed to have crossed from the west of the Eurasian Step.
The devs have promised 5 playable civs in ranked games, namely Wui, Shu, Wu, Jurchens, and Khitans.
If we are to take into account the consumers who spend money for the Three Kingdoms content, then we actually cannot come up with any âsolutionsâ because there is nothing to solve. Wei, Shu and Wu are explicitly promised as playable civs in ranked games. You canât move them from the base game, and neither can rename, modify, convert them into medieval things.
If the devs are finally willing to break their promises in order to change the situation, there is no rush to have 5 civs playable in ranked games ready by May 6th. They could just move Wei, Shu and Wu to The Chronicles or a new mode, and then temporarily only offer Jurchens and Khitans in ranked games until they release new well-crafted civs. Whether these civs will become another paid DLC, or become a free patch for this DLC, there would be no need to limit the new civs to have a clone of the Three Kingdoms civs just to accommodate the problem, especially when the Three Kingdoms civs are full of gimmicks.
I have no problem with new civs reusing The Chroniclesâ assets. For example, if in the future there is a civ that can train unique infantry that can switch between melee and ranged, like a reskinned Immortal, I wonât have any objection to this. Similarly, itâs not a problem that civs would have bonuses or renamed UUs from the Three Kingdoms content if it is moved to a spin-off mode.
What I dislike is limiting those potential civs to Three Kingdoms clones in order to cover up the awful policy, at the expense of the more refined and accurate designs they deserve.
Perhaps Wei could indeed be renamed to Xianbei at almost zero cost, but it is definitely not suitable to be renamed to Khitans due to the visuals of the UU, Castle and Wonder. The Shuâs tech tree is considered close to the Baiâs, but Shuâs chariots, repeating crossbows and the visuals of the UU, Castle and Wonder are definitely not suitable for the Bai. The Wu are even more difficult to have a replacement from potential medieval candidates, so people have mentioned the Yue/Baiyue, an ethnicity that is not really worth introducing as they were just keeping weakened after Three Kingdoms and disappeared later.
If you want to change, all 3 civs have to change, but only Wei actually has the potential to be medievalized by being a Xianbei civ. Perhaps, the well-crafted Bai introduced in the future may have some of the same or similar bonuses and parts of tech tree as Shu, but that should be all.
Refund is the only way I think.
I really donât think they should make the announcement and start taking pre-order as the same time, thatâs purely aim for those impulse purchases money, and leave no room for any change, even if thatâs an improvement.
Pre-ordering digital products itself make mo sense anyway (I hope people stop doing that)
It take multiple misjudgments to lead to the current situation, refund is the least thing they could do to take responsibility
Now more than 100 people here want a reworkâŚwow
I always preordered out of good faith. I donât think thereâs anything wrong with that even if it does not make any sense. But I had both aoe4 dlc and this dlc refunded.
But Iâm not that high on their kool aid not to realize that thereâs something seriously wrong going on on their side. Nothing but pisspoor performances this year and it will only go downhill if thereâs no pushback.
The only thing this dlc accomplished is that Iâll in the future think thrice before buying any new products from them.
This is the best way to do it.
The people that want 5 civs for ranked donât seem to really care what they are. Nobody was begging for the Three Kingdoms for ranked anyway, so letâs just get back to form and not ruin this gameâs reputation.
Why not create 5 basic game civs for ranked (Jurchens, Khitans, Tanguts, Dali and Tibetans) and modify their UU and bonuses only for 3K campaign while also providing old-school campaign for main civs.
For me old school campaign can even come in next dlc, i will gladly pay twice
