I can do that in Arena and Black Forest 4v4 only
Or you are not playing 1v1 online, where you cannot actually wait to get Mahouts and the Elite upgrade, or you get crushed by a swarming opponent.
im going to redo my tamil civ idea with my new knowledge, will withdraw the old idea then
Just post the new one, no need to delete stuff.
Keep the Chariot and Urumi UUs.
My favorites would be 1st Iroquois. Then Swiss, Dutch, Vandals, and some of the ones based in India like the Tamils. I don’t know if there will ever be too many civs for me. One that makes the least sense to me is the Polish because we already have the Slavs. I think we have plenty of steppe civs. Civs like Mongols, Tatars, Cumans, Magyars, Huns, Turks, etc.
Magyars and Turks are half steppe civs.
Neither of them are Stepparian, by the time the game has them represented.
They are from the Steppe in the Age of Empires2 period
The civs themselves are not stepparian in the game, however.
They are focused on their more sedentary Imperial eras, like Hungary, the Seljuks and the Ottomans.
They are stepperian. Honfoglalás represents the end of the nomadic Magyars. And the Magyar civilization focuses on the NOMADIC MAGYARS mainly instead of the Hungarian Kingdom
Wolf bonus - Nomads
Scout bonus - Nomads
Free Attacks - Nothing
Recurve Bow - Nomads
Corvinian Army - Kingdom
Magyars Huszar - Kingdom
Foot Archer Bonus - Nothing
Tech Tree - Nomads
The Magyar cavalry often lent their military service to various rulers in Europe. This is reflected by this unique tech.
It was earlier called “Mercenaries” (before DE)
It’s not true anymore because Corvinian Army (Black Army) represents Mathias Corvinus’s (15th century) army
i have an idea for an Iroquois tech tree, however i know @Szaladon has already done that, and i saw some ideas from there (and the replies) that i liked, is it okay if i make my own improvised version of their tech tree?
i will, i dont want to change too much, i am basically swapping the unique tech and their bonuses from knight to light cav, however im doing a bit more research to make sure i dont have to do it again
Their Tech Tree is not nomadic at all, no focus on Cav Archers besides an UT, and their only Archer bonus affects Foot Archers.
Light Cavalry does not translate to “Steppe civ” either, because Malians, Spanish and Italians all have excellent Scout line units, and none were Stepparian.
On the other hand, the true Steppe civs in the game (Mongols, Tatars, Huns and Cumans) all have a focus on Cav Archers, be it a discount, a fire rate bonus àired with the best Cav Archer UU ion the game, a few free direct Techs to Cav Archers, or a bunch of stacking bonii and UTs.
M;agyars in the game are not a stepparian civ, neither are Turks. Both are based on their sedentary phases.
P.S.: I originally wrote Japanese instead of Italians, as I though they had FU Hussar.
also, some unique technologies i was considering but didn’t use (for my Tamil civ) in case you had a civ that could incorporate them, i might use them in the future though
spiked walls: historically elephants were used as siege, however kings picked up on this and added spikes to the front of their gates to hurt the elephants, this unique tech makes gates, and also walls since gates can easily be avoided, kind of like melee towers with an attack bonus against cavalry and even more against elephants, however they are still weak to rams
and tree catapult: historically Cholas sometimes put boulders or something on trees and bent the trees down before releasing the tree and chucking the volley at the enemy, i don’t know what this would do but it would probably affect the magonel and onager line or give things similar to cannons to a castle
also dont use my names when making a civ with these since my names were literal, maybe translate them.
you can if you want to though
But the Forgotten Team SAID cheaper Scouts reflect on the NOMAD Magyars. They have the best Cavalry Archer in the game = “Lord, save us from the arrows of the Hungarians” Better CA than Tatars, Huns and Cumans (Mangudai is mangudai but compare Magyar CA to Mongol CA)
Magyars are MORE stepparian than non-stepparian.
They have references, just like Turks have free Light Cav and Hussar as a reference, but they are still mostly based on the sedentary stage.
No, I’m HUNGARIAN and I know what I’m talking about because I know HUNGARIAN (=Magyar) history. I came to that logical conclusion Magyars MOSTLY cover the nomad Magyars because of THEIR CIV DESIGN.
Only Magyars Huszárs and Corvinian Army (not before DE) CAN COVER the Hungarian Kingdom.
Yes, maybe the most poorly designed “”“”“Battle”“”“”
Being hungarian does not make you an authority in AoE2 design. This game is a complete mess at representation, because iot tries to be a game.
For Magyars to be an actual Steppe civ, they would have no Magyar Huzsar UU, a direct bonus to Cav Archers (like all other Stepparian civs in the game), and no bonus to Foot Archers.
