I’m quite particular about the maps I like.
The best ones are those that encourage creative build orders & strategies, while not slowing down the game AND actually having more terrain than just typical grass, sand or snow. These maps gain bonus points if the starting units/buildings don’t just consist of three Villagers, a scout and a Town Center, so maps like Ravines (Outposts surrounding the base) and Aftermath (not listed on the poll, I guess because it’s primarily an Empire Wars Map) (weakened Stone Walls surrounding the base and contestable Trade Workshops that generate resources a la Feitoria) are up there for me.

The bad ones are slow, boom-to-Imp, hour-and-a-half-long maps like Black Forest, Amazon Tunnel, Lombardia & Michi. I wanna put myself in the action as soon as I click up to Feudal, bro.

For Black Forest that’s just sort of up to you? There’s frequently dark age vill fights, and you can sneak villagers for stealthy military production, and also do tower rushes, castle drop, etc, if you’re playing 1v1 or flanks in a Team Game

Most of these maps are not ā€œbadā€ per-say there’s just alot of Arabia clones that play out in the same way.

I haven’t played most of them, so it didn’t seem fair to vote on the maps I DIDN’T like.

That’s fair. I’m just used to playing with allies in my ELO range who prefer to sit back and boom, so I suppose I’m a little bit biased.

Coastal Forest, the ā€˜2v2 with a pocket position’ map, 10/10.

Black Forest would have better reputation if it would be played in ā€œstandardā€ map reveal, like every other map.

Explored is just a bad habit of the past, unacceptable at least for ranked play… allowing the players to immediately find the herdables, while forcing them to mindlessly rush vills to revealed (:man_facepalming:) geostrategic points (choke points) in order to wall them asap, immensely damaging the early economy.

I am against spliting. All elos should play really the same game.
