I am sure that in the next addition there will be Albanians with the Skanderbeg campaign!
I dont think Albanians are that popular of a civ choice and while they are interesting they are fairly minor

Hmmm, I love Wikipedia but this is not a great article in my opinion. It’s just a list of medieval states that have been described with the exact phrase “great power” by a very limited range of historians (only 11 references total).

It’s true that the developers wanted to create such a civ (it’s a pity they didn’t), but the name of this civ is more suited to AoE 3, where they were the most powerful dynasty at that time. The Bavarians are better suited to AoE 2. This civ would cover all South Germans: Bavarians, Austrians, Swiss and more. This civ could have 2 Unique Units: a Landsknecht and a Swiss Pikeman. All of their UUs would act like Condottiero of the Italians civ - shared with players who are allied with Bavarians civ.
Honestly if Germans dont complain about their own representation I doubt most people want Bavarians. If anything you will probably just anger the people that wanted a Swiss civ
But the Swiss civ would be less interesting than the South German civ - much less content and less possibilities.
The Swiss are also South Germans.
Will that stop people from being annoyed? Really doubt it
And I know everything annoys some people in this current times, but Im pretty sure that this would annoy a lot of people considering how popular the Swiss are
But the Bavarians civ would include the Swiss, LOL. They would have a Swiss Pikeman + Landsknecht. It would represent all South Germans, not just one particular nation.
The creation of such a civ would not irritate people who want a Swiss civ, as it would contain the Swiss.
I can tell you that putting Swiss with some of the duchies they fought against wouldnt sit well with people that want an actual Swiss civ. They would argue that Swiss have to be independent

Swiss have more name recognission and easier to identify.
That’s even more reason to add them as Bavarians instead. To expand people’s horizon on terms of history which was also done with the addition of civs like Cumans.

Cumans represent Cumans not some other country or people group.If DE wanted to expand anything why would they keep adding v2 of current civis?

Swiss are not Bavarians ; i disagree to form a civilisation with these two because Bavaria was a stem duchy with his own culture and military tradition and also before the Wittelsbach a duchy of Imperial banches while Swiss were a bunch of mountainers who managed to wreck the Habsbourg , Burgundians , Savoyards and because France was to busy with “Lets go war against the English” to do something.
Also lets wait for Asian civs rather than European news
Teutons civ is based on the Teutonic Order. Commenting that the Teutonic Order is not a civilization is pointless because this civ is simply a Teutonic Order. North Germans should get their own civ - the Saxons.
But such a civ would be limited only to Switzerland. Such a civ could not have a Landsknecht, for example. It would be Burgundians 2.0 only on a much smaller scale.

Again, a Swiss civ would be limited to Switzerland only. People want Swiss Pikemen in AoE 2, so Bavarians civ (mercenary civ) is perfect for such people. Bavarians civ could refer to Bavarians, Austrians, Swiss and many many other South German nations. They would have Swiss and HRE Unique Units, Unique Technologies referring to HRE / Austria and Bavaria. The shield of this civ could be a stylized combination of the Bavarian coat of arms (Blue Panther) with the coat of arms of Austria (Heart Shield). Potentially, the coat of arms of Switzerland would also be added to this - if the aesthetics of the shield for the Bavarians civ could be preserved.
Besides, people want the Swiss Pikemen more than a separate Swiss civ. People will want Bavarians civ as it would represent South Germans and thus - would add 2 very important mercenary Units - Landsknecht and Swiss Pikemen.
It would just be a civ that would represent all South Germans. It would be a greater injustice to create a Swiss civ bypassing the rest of South Germany.
The creators planned to add the Habsburgs civ, I think that that civ could resemble the Bavarians civ (Landsknecht and Swiss Pikemen as Unique Units) proposed by me.

I think its a fairly okay representation of middle ages Germany.
Also, I told you people wouldnt like to have Bavarians representing Swiss. I dont care much either way.
When I wrote about the Saxons, I meant civ representing North Germans - Westphalians, Brandenburgians, Hanseatic League, Saxons and many many more.
You mean the Anglo-Saxons - the Goths civ are very much based on them. They use Huskarl as UU. I think it would be enough to rename this civ to Angles (from them comes the name of the English).
