I’ve been working on a quite big mod in my spare time for several months, but the servers in the game still won’t let me add it. I get error number 5 or the message “no tags” (but I can probably handle the second one). I can add all other mods without any problems. The mod only changes the sound of units.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this or find a way to bypass the messages?
I’m very excited about working on it, but I’m frustrated that I can’t even release a beta version to continue working on it. Ultimately, if the problem persists, I’m considering adding it to ModDB…
My mod isn’t THAT big. In reality, it takes up about 200 MB, and after compression by Microsoft servers, it will take up less space. Still, I always wanted to avoid publishing modifications in parts, but perhaps this is the only solution. Previously, my mod could not be published even when it contained only 6 voicelines and one soundset.mods.xml file. It looks like the soundset file is the problem here, even though it is structured the same way as in other mods.
This is all the more strange because originally, when I just wanted to replace a few original sounds and add 3 of my own, not as a test but as a “full” mod, everything was fine. From time to time, I try to publish the same mod (for example, today), but without success. In the meantime, I add more audio files so that the work doesn’t get stuck.
BTW, your mod for German units is OFC brilliant! I have a whole package of new sounds, so maybe it would be worth sharing that at least. Originally, I do everything “for myself,” but it would be a pity if no one else could enjoy my effort.
Sometimes platform is not working, sometimes is the way you have your folders. You should upload it at least to a service like mediafire, to see its contents
I meant to try it myself, verify the folder structure, or if some files are being uploaded. Look, if I left .PSD files, it won’t get uploaded. Just wanna check it
Now I understand! In the next few days, I will try to update my mod again to see at what point it becomes incompatible with multiplayer. From what I have checked so far, sending a compatible version solves the problem.
I will take full advantage of your advice as soon as it becomes clear that my plan of action will fail.
Hi again! It looks like I’ve found the cause of my problem… Unfortunately, it’s my fault. Some .xml files had “mods” added to their names to standardize some voicelines in the game, like for example, a shrine wagon.
It turned out that this cannot be done all in a single mod… So far, I’ve managed to upload about 1/4 of my actual work and I’ll probably be adding to it until the “full” release
