Prohibit the Continuous Use of Offensive God Powers on Damaged Armies: We Need Temporary Immunity Against the God Power Combo

This is the biggest problem in Age of Mythology Retold, the “Combo Kill” of offensive God Powers against a single army. The mechanic allows an entire team (e.g., three players) to synchronize their offensive God Powers (such as Fei Beasts, Locust Swarm, Chaos …) to continuously impact a single enemy army in seconds until it is completely destroyed.

This sequence completely nullifies the strategic investment and micro-management of the attacked player, who is unable to defend themselves! This results in instant annihilation with no opportunity for counterplay. The frustration is maximal when losing the match due to the coordinated “spam” of offensive God Powers.

The Solution: Implement a Temporary Immunity Shield Against the Offensive God Power Combo.

To restore strategic gameplay and prevent forced eliminations, it is necessary to prohibit the continuous use of offensive God Powers on the same target. My proposal is that any unit damaged by an offensive God Power immediately gains a Temporary Immunity Shield against the offensive God Power combo (20-25 seconds).

This shield would make units already damaged by God Powers either invulnerable to the effects of other God Powers or grant them high resistance against the damage and debuff effects of any additional God Power. This way, the importance of the first God power is maintained, but teams are forced to space out their attacks or focus on other targets, returning the game’s balance to strategy and economics.

This is an interesting topic. It is true you can heavily snowball and shut down a player chainning god powers that leave little to no counterplay.

From a casual stand point, thats kinda the point of Aom, specially with now being able to re cast god powers. Having the gods interviene during the battle os the whole flavor/the me of Aom.

Theres god powers meant to synergize together, like Ancestors eclipse or locust that are encouraged to be cast together.

Its interesting that you focus on ofensive god powers when the defensive ones are much stronger on team games.

In a 3 vs 3 game if one side casts bronce and flamming weapons, or chaos one different locations you can cease fire and counter them all. If on a single locations you can frost.

Even to your example of fei beast chaos and locust. Even if you chain those 3 god powers a single restoration nullifies all of them. Granted is only limited to 2 gods, but then again. If a team is spending 2-3-4 GPS on a single fight and they dont win it it would feel very underwhelming.

If they used so many god powers on you it means your allies have theeirs to use tl either help you or inflict damage elsewere to even out.

Would be a nice idea for the big area mythic god powers like tsunami, meteor, tornado etc. If they left a zone that couldnt be casted again in rather than affecting the units.

Since theres no way to diferenciate damage by god powers from other units. They dont deal a unique damage type.

At this point, half the community are wondering why you even still play considering how much you whine/complain about the game.

This has always been the case. In Legacy in team games you could save up your god powers to combine them, wipe out an army and go on the offensive. The temporary immunity shield is a ridiculous proposition tbh that would essentially be a nail in the coffin for it being AOM and it becoming another game entirely.

I consider this problem artificial because it’s been that way for years. The problem with this situation isn’t that multiple divine powers are used simultaneously, but that your allies aren’t helping you. The combination of abilities alone makes the game more interesting.

Ugh, I don’t like it. By the way, I’d like to know about the tornado. If it appears to the enemy after a delay? It’s very easy to dodge, but no one does it. I don’t understand why.

Is this actually an issue?

I mean sure, it sucks for the one player who had his army destroyed with pretty much no counter play, but your team is now 3 god powers ahead.

I find it more game breaking that you can use a new god power as soon as you age up, giving your opponent just seconds to react.

Pretty much yea, if you are Hit with several GPs you are gonna suffer. But you team can do the same.

Theres no delay on tornado as far as im aware. As soon as it hits it deals the damage.
