Promachos Achievement will not register

Achievement trigger should be killing 10 enemy units using Spartan Polemach unit. I have killed over 60 units in a skirmish game using only the polemarch and the achievement will not trigger

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

1. Begin skirmish game
2. Produce polemarch unit
3. Kill enemy units

EXPECTED RESULT

^{What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not present?}

After killing 10 enemies, achievement should trigger

All 15 kills were made using Polemarche and achievement did not trigger

Tried again, 41 enemy units killed, mostly military units, with only Polemarche, and again, no unlock.

For me it triggered on Steam, but not on Xbox (PC). Normally unlocking an Achievement in Steam automatically transferes it to Xbox.

How did you transfer the achievement to Xbox? (also sadly I don’t have the game on Xbox)

I have all other achievements, brw. I know how to play the game so I don’t think I’m the issue.

Same problem here. I am on XBOX PC. It seems to be still not fixed after Chinese update. I can see on trueachievements, that the last person who got the achievement was on 10. April 25. I think they accidentally broke the achievement with the patch on 11.-12. April 25. I hope they fix it.

I have the same problem with Xbox version on Windows 11.

After installing Update 141935 (10 April 2025), killing 10 enemy units with a Spartan Polemarch now unlocks the Awaken the Dragon achievement (Deploy Zhuge Liang’s fire trap in Liu Bei 3) even if you do not own The Three Kingdoms DLC.

This also happened to me two days ago. I have not yet purchased The Three Kingdoms DLC, but Awaken the Dragon popped while playing either the first or second (can’t remember) Chronicles Battle for Greece campaign mission. Promachos remains locked despite completing the Spartan Campaign with surely tons of Polemarch kills.

This is broken for me too. Somehow the trigger has changed to unlock the achievement ‘Awaken The Dragon’ regardless of whether you own The Three Kingdoms DLC or not. Playing through Xbox App on PC.

Still broken as of 21st June 2025, as is “Age of Empires” achievement for winning a game with every civilisation…

Wow nice. A new patch and no fix. And it’s not even on the bug tracking list. How hard is it to make such easy achievements work…

Hi,

I’m experiencing an issue in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition (Chronicles – Battle for Greece DLC). After fulfilling the requirement for the “Promachos” achievement (killing 10 enemy units with a Spartan Polemarch), the wrong achievement was unlocked.

Instead of “Promachos,” I received “Awaken the Dragon” from the Three Kingdoms DLC — which I don’t even own. It seems the achievement triggers are incorrectly linked.

Please investigate and fix the issue so the correct achievement unlocks.

I attempted to unlock this in a skirmish match again today and still have not been able to. I killed 10+ enemies with only my polemarchs. This remains an issue/broken achievement. I’m waiting to purchase the remaining DLCs until this is fixed. Thank you for looking into it!
