Pyrrhus Scenario 3 -- is this intended?

Playing Pyrrhus scenario 3. I’ve got to the Iron Age, but the Phalangite upgrade isn’t available:

I also can’t upgrade chain mail armour. However, other Iron Age upgrades, e.g. Heavy Horse Archer, Armoured Elephant, Metallurgy, are available.

Is this a bug or intended behaviour? Maybe they’re unlocked by one of the secondary objectives, but it’s not clear.

Yes, it’s intentional, Pyrrhus has to go liberating the Greek cities so that new armory technologies are automatically developed… the same happens in Trajan’s campaign, where both he and Hadrian are codependent…

@MatM1996 No, i don’t think so. I was able to upgrade to centurion.

However, chain mail horse and archer armor were unavailable to me, even after conquering the entire map.

This Pyrrhus campaign is one load of a bugfest. Mission 3 did not even finish for me after i had beaten all the enemies! I had to turn against my friends in order to finish the mission.

It happened to me too. It is a bug. I had to restart the game.

Ah ok, I didn’t say anything then…it just so happens that I was watching Trajan’s campaign and I saw that the tecs were developed automatically, conquering the Dacian and Parthian camps…

Thanks everyone. I restarted but still got the same bug, so I just used a mass of heavy horse archers – which worked ok, but would definitely have been better with centurions in front.

This isn’t the first bug I’ve come across in it, but the mission did end for me once I’d defeated the Roman Army.

No, I thought it might be that, but even after completing all the optional objectives, phalngite and chain mail armours were still locked. Destroying the storage pits in Asculum is supposed to stop the Roman Army training soldiers, and I’m not convinced that that worked either.
