Question about the timeline of the Aztec campaign

I have a question about the campaign timeline. Is the Obsidian Mirror campaign before the Immortal Pillars event, or after the Yasuko’s Tale event? There are some scenes that are confusing, but since the DLC was released not long ago, I am hesitant to mention them for fear of spoilers.

You can use spoiler tags to write spoilers.

It is unclear if the Campaign takes part before or after the Chinese and Japanese campaigns, which themselves are set right after another.

Ajax, Brokk and Eitri died before the Chinese campaign but were revived and on their way back home in the Japanese campaign. But they never mentioned that in the Aztec campaign, so did they already return or not die yet?

Yeah, they didn’t mention what happened in China and Japan. I thought they would have mentioned it at least once when they met Kastor. So I wondered like, ‘Did this happen before Immortal Pillars insident?’

It’s not known for sure, but it does come after the New Atlantis campaign… In my opinion, the order is:

  1. The Golden Gift (here we see the beginning of Brokk and Eitri’s journey)

  2. The Fall of the Trident (the entire story of Arkantos)

  3. New Atlantis (the entire story of Kastor)

  4. Obsidian Mirror (this campaign is a direct continuation of New Atlantis)

  5. Yasuko’s Tale (here Ajax, Brokk, and Eitri appear only in one scenario—Behind the Enemy Lines—and then continue on their way)

  6. Immortal Pillars (here Ajax, Brokk, and Eitri are teleported and appear in Shattered Underworlds, where they ally with the protagonist Yan Feifeng to escape the underworld, which they accomplish in Duel of the Deathless)

The order of the Chinese and Japanese campaign is wrong in your list.

The Chinese campaign takes part before the Japanese one since Ajax, Brokk and Eitri get revived in the Chinese campaign and then after that are on their way back home and get lost so they end up in Japan.

The Chinese and Japanese were bundled in the Premium Edition so it makes sense that both campaigns reference each other. But I wish they would have had more interactions. At least one mission where you fight Chinese instead of always just Japanese.

The Aztecs are not part of that bundle so they didn’t want to confuse people that never bought the Chinese and Japanese DLC?

But if they revived in the Chinese campaign, how did they return to the underworld in the Japanese campaign?

They didn’t “return”, they were on their way out.

Obsidian Mirror takes place before the Chinese and Japanese DLC’s it seems, not so long after the New Atlantis Campaign (3rd in chronological). Then Immortal Pillars, then Heavenly Spear

They tried to return to their home through the Underworld, just like in The Fall of the Trident. Well, I suppose going through the Underworld shortens the distance, much like the Nether in Minecraft. However, on their way back, they took a wrong turn at a fork in the road and got lost (which led to an argument between them, Brokk says ‘We should have taken the third to the right like I told you‘), causing them to end up in Japan instead of Europe, where they met Yasuko.

It is definitely correct that Yasuko’s Tale comes AFTER Immortal Pillars. In the ‘Behind Enemy Lines’ mission, Ajax mentions that they are “travelling from China”. Check the 1:05 mark in the video below.

I think that’s a valid point. Since it’s a separate DLC rather than a continuous update distributed to everyone, they seem reluctant to mention the content of other DLC campaigns. People who only bought the Aztec DLC probably wouldn’t know what happened in China or Japan.

yeah but it’s also kinda illogical because the connection between China and Japan was essentially just one voice line like in the video you just linked.

They could have just dropped one more voice line like Ajax complaining that he just arrived home from the Underworld or something like that to fit it into the timeline.

I understand, I understand… thanks for clearing that up… so the AoM lore would end after Yasuko defeats the Titan with the spear and reunites with her father, looking at the sea in the distance… I wonder if they bring out the Incas later this year, would that campaign come after Obsidian Mirror or Yasuko’s story?…
