Radio silence or statement from the Devs about the controversy?

I’m just wondering if they have anything to say before they drop the DLC. Before, during, and after the release of Return of Rome and V&V, we heard nothing regarding the criticism.

No info on any communication from them.

I don’t expect any to be honest.

They will release the DLC as is.

They will be completely radio silent just like with every other drama that comes up. It’s their modus operandi

They did release the info just before the weekend, and now it’s just after the weekend. It will give them something to talk about in the ‘office’ on Monday regardless of whether they say anything or not.

It’s monday, and not even morning for US, chill.

At least give it a week.

Also Cysion said he was going on holiday right after the interview. So they might be waiting for him to get back before continuing.

It has only been a few days. While no statement is frustrating, I doubt they would have come to an agreement on the way forward by this point.

They haven’t responded to the Return of Rome, V&V, or cancelled aoe3 DLC controversies. They won’t start now.

At least with V&V they tried to fix it. That’s honestly a better response than any message.

Yeah, I must recognize that adding content to V&V is a step in the right direction. I think I even suggested it at one point, when the drama erupted. But to make that DLC worth buying at that price, too many scenarios must be added, and I think it’s just not worth it. Better let it die like Return of Rome lol Or alternatively make a pure-campaign focused DLC (without any weird experiments!), if that’s even profitable of course.

They still responded to the Roman controversy and listened to the prominent feedback that people want them in ranked. The outcry this time is many times greater than ever before, because the hype is bigger then ever before. They have to do something if they want this to avoid a launch disaster. There are enough suggestions from the community to save the DLC.

And it’s a bigger mess than before.

This is what actually bothers me the most. As company that often highlights how important the community is and it “would be nothing without it”, their communication is really bad. I would love to have some insight on why they decided on the civs and heroes and timeframe, etc. Whatever their reasons are, just be transparent about it. I read many arguments pro and con for the upcoming DLC, but as always it feels like it doesn’t really matter what we think of it. They just drop it and move on.

For a game that’s so close to the community, why don’t they come up with a way where we actually vote for the next DLC or civs? Or at least tell us up front what it’s going to be so they can gather our reactions and opinions before they start developing it?

For a game that brought so much joy to my life, once again, it’s just sad…

We all know that the devs are secretly posting all over the forums, reddit and social media with posts saying how much they like the DLC and how they don’t understand all the drama.

Everyone that disagrees with me must be a paid actor!

Joking. Hopefully.

That’s the typical corporate speech that every corporate would say.

But to be fair, they did have okay-ish communication. They only went into radio silence when they know things will go south.

The AOE3 community suffered from a year of full radio silence after the DLC announcement then it got cancelled.

I’m not expecting much, just a small post saying that they are aware of the current complains and are thinking about what they could change to smooth things

To add to the “weird radio silence” topic, anyone notice there’s no video on their youtube channel about the DLC? Normally there is one when they reveal it.

I have noticed that. I thought it was weird but was more focused on…other matters. Yeah, just more weirdness.

Not that I want to make excuses for WE et al at this point, but is it possible there’s no trailer cause there’s so little to show?

The more we look into the Khitanguts and the Xianwei, the tiger cavalry with a tiger pelt, there’s really this last minute adding koreans vibe.

I don’t think so. Normally they show campaign footage. Which they will have if the DLC is releasing in just 3 weeks. They don’t need their shambling mess of civs to be finished for that.
