If you take a break from the game and come back to do the placements, the system still matches you with players of your former Elo, and with low uncertainty. Meaning you won’t get weaker opponents as you lose placement matches, they will all be of your former skill level. BUT if you lose them all, you will be placed in something like Bronze, so you can be a Bronze with a Gold-Plat MMR by losing your 5 Placement matches. How does this make any sense? Just remove it altogether and show Elo. It’s clear you can’t design a working system that accommodates both Leagues and Elo. You still have some people bragging they reached Conqueror during Season 1, when players were gaining ladder points just by having a 50% winrate, now you went to the other extreme. Remove Leagues and show Elo please. It’s ridiculous.

This is not a bug and you will be appropriately placed for your MMR if you return to the game and play consistently.

It’s not a bug it’s a feature! To make sure you play or make a fool of yourself by having a much lower rank than your real Elo. I’ve never experienced this in any other RTS. I started 1 league below, but not 3 or 4 leagues.
