Rating each civ's architectural appropriateness out of 10

They seem to have had connections via Kalingans

I put some thought into what you said about Slavic architecture and you may have a point. There aren’t many medieval examples of brick buildings in Russia and Ukraine. I’m disregarding everything else you said because this topic is just about architecture, but I think assigning the Slavs 0 points is a bit harsh. Both the Feudal and Imperial Age styles are accurate.

The Eastern European Monastery is based on an actual brick church in Ukraine, but aside from that, the Castle Age buildings might be too Brick Gothic. It’s hard to tell because medieval Russian architecture isn’t well-documented online.

Either way, in the absence of evidence that the Castle Age set is accurate, I guess I’ll have to give it a 6/10. The Dark Age is not under consideration because everyone has the same thing.

It is. But better to google it in Ru. Search pix for:

How I understand it, stone was both scarce and impractical during winter, so pretty much the only stone buildings were city walls (kremlin) and churches. As for the rest, here’s some inspiration by artist Apollinary Vasnetsov.

Do you think a new architecture group like “Indochinese Set” could work? With members being: Bengalis Burmese Malay?
Or would that be too generic again?

Unique Castles (and Wonders) don’t count because they’re designed specifically to look accurate, so it’s basically cheating. I’m just judging how well the base architecture set fits into the civ.

Perhaps. More architecture sets is always good. Your edit looks great ngl.

I don’t think it’s as bad as you’re making out. You did ask for other people’s opinions, and some of those opinions were negative. And some of your opinions in your first post were negative, too, so I really don’t see the problem.

From these, it looks to me like the Feudal Age buildings are already pretty accurate. Also for the wonder, even though the specific building the it’s based was built too late, the overall style looks appropriate.

The building in the background of the top picture reminds me of this one from an alpha version of AoE2:

Mystery-Church

I think this was intended as an Imperial Age monastery for Teutons and Goths.

Reminds me of the Slavic architecture from the original Forgotten Empires mod:

(By the way, I noticed the pictures are from the early 20th century, so may not be up-to-date in terms of ideas about what Rus’ buildings looked like – archaeology has come a long way since then!)

Yes the feudal style fits well (i dislike it for the same personal reasons i dislike the palisades - grey colour). But the majority of the game you spend in castle+ age, so you look at stone buildings, which ideally probably you’d get only in imperial. So i actually prefer this mod: Steam Workshop::AbeJin's Slavic Architecture

As for historical material - it’s nearly impossible, since it was again largely wooden structures. As for churches, gates and walls sure there’s lots of material. This one’s from 12 century, golden gate of Vladimir:

Aren’t they Catholics? I thought round dome is Orthodox church?

I think a lot of Goths were Arians rather than Catholics, but either way, they didn’t build churches that looked like this.

What’s not healthy is you coming back and trolling everyone all the time. @EliteRiflemann, please take care of this guy.

Surely you understand that your endless trolling can’t be tolerated, and that you’re simply not getting anywhere with it.

Well, it’s not fun for anyone else. You’re being incredibly selfish.

You are extremely messed up in the head. I feel bad for you.

That’s a very personal question that isn’t appropriate for these forums. You have no boundaries, and this is coming from a guy with boundary issues himself.

I’m not answering that question.

He can choose. We can ignore his choices, however.

African Castle is based on a Berber castle, right? And yet, they get middle eastern castle.

The in-game East Asian castles are clearly based on Japanese castles (albeit with some mistakes) and they don’t resemble Chinese gatehouses or any other ancient and medieval Chinese defensive structures.
