Rebinding keys, what is considered cheating?

I am considering rebinding my mouse scroll wheel to right click (using the mouses software) that way I can right click at a superhuman speed. This can be useful to prevent the enemy scout from blocking vills running to the tc. I am wondering if this is considered cheating? If not could I bind a g key on a logitech keyboard to do the same thing except even faster. Would that be considered cheating?

Although I don’t really understand what you mean, at this point I think it’s probably safe to say that anything like that would not be considered cheating. But I don’t know for sure.

I mean, people use things in ranked games all the time like small tree mod, tower/castle range indicators, idle villager indicator, auto scout, auto farm reseeding, short walls mod, terrain grid visual, bombard/mangonel knockout area attack cursors, simplified minimap colors, mods to put pointer icons above resources and relics, building foundation labels, and a plethora of others. Some of the above even started as mods and were made a part of the default/official game. I don’t what is considered cheating in AoE2:DE, to be honest, since so much is permitted.

You can even play the game like it’s a 3D spreadsheet of histogram chart:

Source: CubeNothing - Mod

This game is treated a lot different than how Activision/Blizzard has zero tolerance for any such mods or control aids in Diablo (and maybe Call of Duty?) games

You say you don’t know “what is considered cheating”. Is this the right forum to answer that question? I intend to stream and even recommend this to my followers assuming it is legal. I really would like a clear answer to the question before I ruin my reputation.

I think it is a good forum to ask the question, though the “Ask for Help” section seems to be less frequented and a little harder to get responses in than the general “Discussion” area, in my casual observations over the years.

You’ll probably get your answer from a fellow forumgoer, moderator, or (hopefully) developer. You maybe can try contacting support directly through email, too

Aside from reading all the Terms & Conditions, Terms of Use, and Code of Conduct legalese stuff line by line, I can’t offer anything else. I gave you my hunch as a fellow forumgoer  … and that’s all I am.
