Redo this DLC devs, this is a disgrace

Rebrand the 3 kingdoms into another Chronicles DLC.

Is this a joke? 3 Han Chinese civs alongside existing Chinese civ? Out of medieval scope? Jurchens / Tanguts under 3 Kingdoms brand?

I agree I also thought we would get a pre Mongol invasion DLC, and that Three Kingdoms would fit Chronicles.
What a disappointment.

This is real.
I don’t know what the heck they are doing?
ā€œNot split Chineseā€. And then add 3 civs was originaly Chinese

Here’s how it can be salvaged :

  • repackage the 3 Kingdoms as a Chronicle

And :

  • release the Khitans and Jurchens either as part of the free update
    Or
  • release these 2 civs again as part of a future East Asian DLC with campaigns for them, alongside other civs on the periphery with China.
(Only one of 3K and this future DLC required to play as them)

It’s indeed highly questionable if the 3K should be included in the AOE2 timeline (to be fair by stretching it a little bit, Cao Cao conquered the Xiongnu who would be pushed west to become the Huns, making the fall of Rome an indirect consequence…) and while the Jurchens were highly demanded (on the top of my own list), it feels like locking them behind that DLC and without even a campaign…

Yes absolutely, there is still time to do a good job. But like this… I mean, no thanks.

This is equal to making each clans from the Japanese Sengoku Period (which lasted longer than the 3 kingdoms and within AoE2 timeframe) into a separate civs when they are all represented by Japanese. Speaking of which, I heard V&V have 2 scenarios with customs civs to represent all those warlords. Do we really need those as actual civs?

The Three Kingdoms period was a post-Han dynasty civil war that lasted around 100 years, then united into the Jin dynasty. So now this is basically 4 Chinese civs presenting the very same Han people, and OG Chinese’s ā€œChu Ko Nuā€ is literally a weapon named after Zhuge Liang from Shu, so 2 civs to represent the very same kingdom existed for only ~50 years.

And Tibetan and Dail lost their chance to be put in the game for this.

For all my love for AoE2, and grateful to the devs for updating the game. I actually considering not buying this DLC, as a protest, or something, I don’t really know how I should think.

More baffling is people have been asking for real full-length East Asian campaigns for years, and now they finally made the tools for them, yet they chose to bundle another Chronicle into it.

Perfect chance to turn Genghis Khanā€˜s Into China scenario into full-length campaigns with a connected storyline + all factions get their own story

But no.

Why?

They are probably going to miss the deadline if they waited the campaigns to finish. So they bundled another DLC into it.

The deadline for business needs solely I guess. No player is asking for such crap.

If it like this, it only a matters of time until we got Cornwall and Brittany civilization

If we don’t see adjustments soon, it’s never.

I’ve never seen such an universal hate for aoe2. Even Reddit.

Reddit is still way more positive than this forum.

Is it a bit absurd to introduce unique hero units into the Three Kingdoms civ? According to this design, all civ groups in the game must obtain hero unit research.

The upside is that now they provide the units and tools, i would love to see how Chinese mod campaigns makers make more custom campagins out of it.

Reddit is very conservative. Everything the Devs add is okay, every idea of us plebs is bad because it tarnishes the game

I can’t describe how much I hate aoe2’s subreddit.

Then let them buy and play.

I already have something for the Cornish unique tech, not sure if it will be useless or cancerously annoying

UT : Corn Wall
Palisade walls now cost food instead of wood, automatically build themselves then repair themselves once placed.
