Remember me, AoEIV will be a bestseller

I hope some good and long singleplayer content. Now a days i dont have much timing for multiplayer.

That’s what will make me decide whether to buy or not.

yeah we shall see, the campaign is supposedly a big focus.

“…but we saw exactly nothing of that so far”

Do not pluralize your personal opinion.

The DOW3 was the only failure of the company and due to the impulsive criticism and the fact that they were developing 2 other games, they decided to abandon it, that will not happen with the AoEIV.

We as “we the public waiting for information”. I said exactly what I wanted to express.
Or do you have information about the campaigns? If so, spill it, my man : P

Telling me not to “pluralize my personal opinion” while you happily preach these highly subjective statements.
The hypocrisy is strong with this one.

I do not express my opinion for people, it is simply my appreciation based on some indications that I see.

From Brazil. AAA can’t charge full price here, no one have the purchasing power to pay.

Most companies choose regional pricing that Steam suggest to match the cost of $60 in US to a similar cost here.

But for some reason Age of Empires 4 is not using the regional pricing that steam suggest, they are charging +82% than the suggested price.

Imagine if the cost in US was $109, would everyone pay for it…? In Brazil I can assure you that people will not. And I know it hurts to say this, but AoE4 don’t have the AAA quality you expect to charge $60.

Yeah, the price for AOE4 in Brazil is just sad.

I hope they reconsider the regional prices, 60US$ might be a good price in the USA but the 200RS$ price in Brazil is just crazy.

That has always been my biggest concern for those who really want to buy the game but are in countries with a tough economy.

In the digital age those who want to buy it - eventually will be able to do that. Once it reaches the point where its price is affordable and sensible for what’s on the table and the economic realities of where they live. That might be some sale 6 months after release, year, two…
In a perfect world, regional prices would be set appropriately. But it’s not a perfect world and pretty much everything, at least from what’s made in US, leaves a lil bit to be desired when it comes to prices.

It’s clear MS wants this game to be a AAA release, and like it or not pricing is important when it comes to many other things that usually are not considered. It’s a big company and they expect IV to be a fairly big thing in their catalogue, which is not outrageous, considering how for many, many years this brand was about re-releasing old titles and fan service.
Whether developers deliver AAA worthy of that AAA price tag- we’ll see.

With mentioned, frequent discounts I’m not against having that price, even if IV won’t meet all expectations. That doesn’t excuse poor regional prices but even then there are additional factors out of MS’s control that are causing these prices in South America or Australia.

Most of the sales come from places like US, that’s the birthplace of developers, publisher, that’s where employees are getting paid, etc. It won’t change in any foreseeable future.

I really do not understand why some people keep saying this.

I agree though that regional pricing should be done properly so that people in different countries can afford it. The more players, the better the game will be.

I find it’s kinda funny when people blame the fall of AoM on auto-queue

I enjoyed autoqueue. It’s also not the panacea people think it is; as I recall, it was very easy to run out of resources due to the feature.

Auto-queue has very little impact, especially on “pro” level players. But it feels like some people lack a strong counter-argument for auto queue and they keep bringing the Titan expansion as an example, while the real reason the game failed is because of the mofo Titans.

You didn’t name any “indications” so far. So no, that makes it an opinion and pure speculation just like anyone elses. I’m not saying don’t do it, but it falls exactly into the same category as unfounded hate for the game.

This for example should be a big red flag for you. The practice to not give that common courtesy to the fanbase and adjust the price to local purchasing power is a pathetic way of forcing people into gamepass. Instead of making a nice bundle with (overpriced) goodies for the fanboys to buy (in form of a physical special edition for example), they try to get the money from people who can barely afford the game in the first place. And while the months (and xbox subscription monies) go, those people have to hope for some meaty discount to add the game to their collection while still balancing out the paid gamepass fees.
What a shady business practice.

Don’t be ridiculous. We paid good money for those re-releases. There’s no red number to be found in their books concerning AOE2HD/DE, AOEDE, AOM, RoN.

Maybe try to consider a lil bit more complexity in the world before making statements like ‘ridiculous’. I’ve checked my purchase history (all Steam store and not shady russian shops!) and with discount as an owner of the previous version (when applied)/ with MS sale discount (they gave AoE1 -78% in Dec 20, 2019!!*) I’ve paid with current exchange rates:

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - 34,68zł 9,87$
Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition - 40,49zł 10,4$
Age of Empires: Definitive Edition - 20,00zł 5,12$

If somebody is buying games off the shelf day1 without without thinking or cleverness - well he CAN pay good money for them
Not mentioning free USA civ DLC.

And if we’re talking about RRP… Well who is buying anything with RRP? It’s normal for everyone in the industry- these are new releases that offer huge amount of content. I’d go further and say price for AoE2:DE is too low. Campaigns alone are more than all RTS sp content released in the last 10 years.
I love Devolver but I don’t think why MS or these devs working on damn AoE games would value themselves like some small indie studios.

*I’m cheap but even I was slightly shocked
AoE 1 DE sale

Is the price differently distributed than other similar games?

Total war: Three Kingdoms:

Or are we proposing that microsoft should be the exception here?
Arguing whether the game is worth the proposed prices is another discussion.

yes, since you could massify troops if you wanted…and towards more fluid gameplay…or so I think…a fluid game makes the game more fun, if you don’t see how the mobas surpassed the rts…and the truth is that a pity that you did not like it…but hey, tastes are tastes,I guess…

Well in fact we already had age of empires online, whether you want it or not,it was like a reinvention of aoe 1…

For aq, I don’t see how able to make units should be a big part of mirco. Mirco and marco should more on gameplay not boring things like try to make units.

Beside, you still need to mirco changing your units comp and when to stop production.

Will aq the game pace going to be quicker for all level of players and more fun to play.

Price I dont think is that bad, consider no micro transaction… All best income games are by micro transaction nowadays.

Just them expecting it to be a big product does not mean that it is worth the asking price. You cannot wish a product into the AAA state, lol.

That is how some people here argue: How can the game be AAA gameplay-wise if they don’t ask for a AAA price? That is nonsense. That price has to be earned.
That weak marketing and the NDA-gag for beta testers and content creators makes it hard to earn that in time before release. You basically expect people to buy this game as if it was an early access product.

You also make it sound like they did the re-releases as a fan service without earning on that. But I again have to disagree:
AOE2:HD and AOE2:DE/AOE3:DE were modified versions of fully functional products of which M$ still owned the rights to and still sold copies off…thats easy money. Same with the kinda meh re-release of AOM and the horrible RoN re-release.
And on top of that they sold addons to each of those games (content drops, no big changes in their structure). I think I never double-bought so many games with the originals still working fine for the most part. In the process they revived interest for the brand and reached many new players.
I would call that a successfull business coup by M$.

And now, as a thank you to all the old and new players, AOE4 is 60+€ or half your monthly pay in some countries. All that while being a completely new game by a different studio (with a “recent history”) and barely any footage shown, outside of those puny marketing snippets that cause more irritation that informing the consumer. To top it off, they do a closed beta under NDA, two months before the official release. ElRisitas.mp3

I’m not sure how you buying games cheaply at some point after release relates to AOE4 being overpriced at release. Do you want to tell us that it is fine to overprice games since discounts will come anyway? That does not sound like a healthy relationship to capitalism :stuck_out_tongue:
