So something I miss dearly from AoE3 and even AoE2 is the siege operators. Gave them a lot of life IMO.
One thing I noticed in AoE4 was this; when you select or command the Trebuchet, a human voiceline plays as feedback of your action. And it isn’t just the Trebuchet. Springald, Bombard, Culverin and Mangonel.
All of them respond with a voiceline. Now to be fair, it is the same voicelines between them, but I still find it interesting that they didn’t opt for mechanical noise or something distinct for each Siege unit.
It almost makes me wonder if this is a remnant of a distant past during development. Could there have been Siege operators originally? Personally I would love for this to become a thing in the game, as most civilizations already share these units anyway so the development cost would efficiently improve immersion across the board.
Oh and heres a little interesting fact; Mangonels and Bombards do not have wheels–but their icon do. Maybe this too is a remnant of that past idea in development where they had operators?

(And, no, this isn’t a repurposed icon for the french cannon)
What do you think? Would you like to see Siege operators? They look great in AoE3 and in CoH3–why not AoE4 too?
