first of all it doesn’t make any logical sense
what are they even doing? chanting prayers at a block of wood and stone?
secondly, if the ranked map pool continues to have maps that invalidate all the strategy and counterplay because of inaccessible areas (eg. michi/black forest/arena), then force people to at least make an actual army to defend their 10 layers of stonewalls instead of just monks
also bring back wonder victory. it’s irrelevant on any map worth playing, and provides some alternative to doing the pixel hunt of trying to get through 10 layers of stonewalls

Those blocks of wood and stone (though I’m sure they use metal, stone is only used as projectiles) are supposed to be manned by soldiers, although you only see that for the bombard cannon. In a game where elephants can also be wololoed this not the worst offender (yes yes it’s the cornak you’re converting, and the elephant obeys the cornak)
And yes, converting an onager to fire at a nearby pack of archers is insanely satisfacting. It would be impossible if the monk had to come in direct proximity.
As for the wonder victory, it may have been disabled in the game you were playing but it’s still enabled by default.
