This would be great not only for AOE2, but for all other Age games as well. I say we keep this thread alive so it gets more relevance and attention from developers.
Thatās really not the point tho.
You make duplicate topics on Stack Overflow, they downvote you to all hell.
Kinda the reason I never ask anything there, or when I ask, I make sure no one in the history of humanity asked that question before
I agree with your post except for this. No popup box needed or desired. I dont like the popup.
If they make a popup, have an option in settings to shut off popups. Even on that popup, put a checkbox, āDonāt ask me againā. This way we can train ourselves of the consequence and easily shut off the warning when weāre good and ready; even if it is the first time we see it. This lets us know thereās probably a setting to re-enable it someday if we choose, too. (The delete buildings popup should get this checkbox, too.)
In the end, the checkbox idea would be great! Especially for delete buildings popup.
I donāt think this is why, and donāt think it gets buried. I see it as helping the plight of the suggestion or issue by combining all the feedback regarding a topic in one easy-to-read location as a one-stop-shop for devs to read all the viewpoints regarding the topic at hand; rather than having to go hunting all around, or assuming the latest posts are the only posts. Some users have great thoughts from a while back and by not associating present-day discussion to those thoughts it is a disservice to those people, and helps avoid a whole new round of the same words being spoken over and over and over again. Words from someone new in November 2020 arenāt always (usually arenāt) more meaningful than words from someone in March 2020, and usually shouldnāt be treated as such.
Iāve sometimes spent a bunch of time making suggestions with screenshots and mockups, for example; why should that post get less eyes by devs, or how is it less relevant, important, or applicable, just because it was posted earlier in the year?
And sometimes it is good for them to see that it has been an issue or suggestion for so long, with a bunch of folks contributing thoughts. In some sense, it becomes a mini focus group/feedback group for them to study responses in one place.
Thatās exactly how the āDelete all buildingsā mechanic works and is what I suggested.
I donāt think we need a pop up to prevent accidental cancelation. I donāt know for you all but when I click on the global queue, itās sometimes to just check in which building the task is being completed, but in the majority of case itās because I know I want to cancel whatever is going on, so the accident with this QoL is if I end up left clicking 11
