Highest achieved rank?
Total wins? total games?
maybe its counting non ranked games too, like for example above 60% winrate gives you gold (?)

The border colors don’t represent actual ranking, but they definitely represent SOMETHING relating to skill level, as players with fancier borders usually seem to play better. Could it be the player’s average medals in the multiplayer tutorials?
