My friend and I have been enjoying playing Age of Empires 2 DE for years. There’s just one thing we hope will change soon: please let us choose a single map to play in ranked games. We only play occasionally and would love to be able to play on one specific map, rather than having to ban certain maps.
Arabia elo, Arena elo, BF elo and nomad elo may be different each other virtually. I know it’s very difficult, but it may be good to separate the ranked match by maps.
This will increase the waiting times, but i am not sure about by how much.
Now the system just matches player around the same Elo and then picks a map.
You suggest the opposite: Pick players based on a map. That requires a full rework of the matching system. It already have been bugged in the past, so i am not really a fan of that.
Like if the current system would fit everyone’s tastes, it just targets quantity over quality and that is the reason some players leave or abuse others.
Elo is meaningless in high tier events, so there is no logical reason to keep forcing players to play things they are no willing to play, the ranked system needs to adapt their old and hardcore playerbase, cause the game is not longer growing, so before getting fired by WE or MS they should make the game friendly for the generation that kept the game alive, in other words, casual players!!!
This is pretty much your opinion and is respectfully disagree with that. Personally variaty in maps is for me part of quality. Your suggestions means less variaty, so for the the quality will drop. You probably only like one kind of map, so argued from your point of view less variaty in maps mean more quality.
I understand the concern, but this should never happen in ranked. They should fix and improve Quick Play for situations like these.
Absolutely unnecessary.
They did Quick Play and abandoned it. It should be on the same screen. You only want to play one map or one civilisation? Quick Play. Want the map pool (maybe improved from today’s) and why not also a mini draft/ban of civs? Ranked.
I like that division. BF players play BF in lobby today.
