No trailer, no screenshot. No nothing. OMG the marketing team.
I do agree. Marketing with AoE2 has been very…odd.
Like for example, the Dynasties of India DLC had fantastic marketing, a combination of fun and informative. This is…I don’t want to say lazy, but no video to at least show what this DLC is is not good. There are already plenty of comments on the posts where people have no idea what this even is.
I don’t think AoE2 as a franchise is necessarily that profitable to have big expenses spent on marketing. Doing forum fun puzzles and stuff is the only cheap way. Don’t think we even got a trailer for Dynasties of India before it released?
If this is treated equally to previous DLCs, I’d expect a trailer of sorts to come out on May 16th.
There was a trailer before release for DoI.
The Youtube one from Xbox was on April 28th, same day as release, no?
Either way, there’s a month inbetween, plenty of time to still release a trailer if there is one.
Might be a revolutionary movement in marketing history. Who knows?

Anyway, at least some news. Let’s see what we have for the DLC. Expecting some AOE2 contents as well.
There is (or at least was) another on April 14th. But trailer got campaign characters face wrong and had put one civs hero onto other civs name. So they changed the trailer with civ icon instead and released it on 28th.
There were 2 videos. One pre, one post.
It’s still 6 weeks tho. I’m sure teasing in the DoI way starts once the patch goes live ![]()
Not excited about it, tbh.
AOE IV was expected to be about WWI, but they did a remake of AOE II DE: not bad, but I don’t see it ever challenging AOE II DE’s impact on players, it hasn’t so far.
Same with this one: this is AOE I DE remastered: should’ve left it to them to enjoy some new dynamics.
We should’ve gotten more meaningful content (not trebuchets throwing beach balls).
in fact i’m expecting some single player content. I’m not really into multiplayer. I wish they have redone AoE1 campaigns and bring more campaigns to AoE2 based on the new civs coming with this DLC.
I wonder if there will be a unique AOE2 campaign for the WRE separate from the Romans in AOE1?
If so, I think that it might be along the lines of the antagonist of major campaigns like Attila & Alaric, in a similar vein to the Burgundians being the rivals of the Franks under Joan of Arc & Edward Longshanks being the nemesis of Robert the Bruce/William Wallace.
Could that mean that a prime candidate for a unique AOE2 WRE campaign protagonist is Flavius Aetius ?
In case you want to prepare for the DLC and still have the CD Version: there’s a mod for Conquerors called “Rome Returns” that brings all AoE 1 civs into AoE 2, even has 2 new ones iirc + you can also play the AoE 1 campaigns in AoE 2.
The mod is also available on Voobly:
yea that booboo. Whoever it was had just one job… One Job.
Wish we get the Vandals also.
I hope these DLCs will bring something more than just Romans civ to the medieval part of the game. I think along with Romans civ they could join to the game Saxons civ and Vandals civ in this DLC.
The ancient part of the game could get some extra civs from AoE 2 that occurred in the timeframe of antiquity i.e. Celts, Franks, Goths and Huns.
Why the building became a siege workshop whole dying?
Because the destruction animation wasn’t replaced yet.
That’s true…
Ah, I screwed up the date… and I can’t find anything related to Rome…
Well, maybe they save everything for before the trailer…
Of course, quiet…
I’d like them to release the trailer on April 21st at least…
In fact the entire end of the nineteenth century, the entire twentieth century and the beginning of the twenty-first century (Belle Epoque, WWI, WWII, Cold War, Modern Era/War on Terrorism like Aggression Reign Over Europe,EE1,EE2 and CnC Red Alert Trilogy,Tiberian Dawn and Generals)…
Yes, maybe many campaigns will come… and perhaps it is not only Aetius but also Majorian and Aegidius in a single campaign “The Last Romans” (425-463) with Attila and the two Theodorics as allies and enemies throughout the campaign as the campaign of Algirdas and Kestutis…
What memories…
The issue is that in AoE 1 you have the Carthaginians and in AoE 2 the Berbers who occupied the same geographical space..
Maybe in the next dlcs… it would only be to carry those civs from AoE 2 to AoE 1…although they hit in point, Celts (Boudica), Huns (Rugila and Mundzuk), Teutons (Arminius) and Goths (Fritigern)…
I don’t see how it’s an issue, both games are full of civs which occupied the same geographical area at various points in time.
Arminius was a Cheruscan. In Ancient times, Teutons specifically refers to a German (or possibly Celtic) tribe whose entire population died or was enslaved during the Cimbrian war. Which ended before Arminius was even born.
On the other hand, Mayas, Dravidians and Ethiopians could all be considered.
Good point, maybe they do put the Vandals in AoE 2 prior to the conquest of the Berbers, considering that in AoE 1 you have the Phoenicians and Carthaginians…
Well, in that case, you can put Teutobod as a Teuton/Germanic campaign in the Cimbrian War and Arminius in a historical battle like Teutoburg (considering that AoE 1 doesn’t have a section of historical battles yet)…
That’s for sure… Olmecs, Mayans, Dravidians and Aksumites (Ethiopians)…
