I wonder that their tech tree and unique techs will look like
The Newest civ table is here
Only Mongols are not appear in aoe1 as a East Asia civ,Chinese、Japanese、Korean and Vietnam are all appear in aoe1
Hausa are not Malians at all.
I hope AOE1 civs get their unique voice lines not the shared artificial language.
Most of them could be done. Ancient Greek and Latin etc. are pretty well known. Some language have modern counterparts so it’s okay to just use them like in AOE2/3.
The difficult part would be dead languages like Egyptian and Sumerian. But there have been attempts to reconstruct how those languages sound, and these are sufficient to make some basic dialogue lines in civilization games so more than sufficient for AOE where the lines are simpler and more standard.
AOE1 needs:
Unique Techs
Unique Units
Unique Voice Lines
More units: Light Cavalry, Heavy Camel, Heavy Axeman…
Until then we can only call it an unfinished game.
NGL I expected these so thats why I am disappointed a little
That’s impossible.
We have no idea how half of the languages in the game sounded like.
I agree with everything else.
Where did you get that AoE2 Roman icon?
Civilization games always have ancient Egyptian, Sumerian and Akkadian dialog lines. They are reconstructed yes but that’s the best we can get.
And AOE2 and 3 have used a lot of modern languages. So it’s not a problem if some civs use anachronistic languages.
For example AOE2/3 Chinese use modern Chinese. AOE4 has reconstructed ancient Chinese phonetics (but still modern grammar). If that works then say reconstructed ancient Egyptian would also work.
Egyptian and Sumerian would maybe work but what about Minoan?
Goths in AOE2 can speak middle German. So just give them ancient Greek.
Why are Eastern Romans not with Romans?
because romans is also in aoe2
This icon is really ugly.
Chi Rho is definitely a better and more beautiful symbol for the Christian Romans - because in the AoE 2 timeframe, the Romans had already embraced Christianity.
The Hausa are not the same people than the Malians.
The Malians and Hausas are considered West African umbrellas and they employ similar concepts (Huntresse, Fulani, Griot, University…)
If a new west african civilization emerges one day i will separate them
It’s a shame how rough the Western African umbrellas are. Especially the AOE3 Hausa could be easily 5 civs or more.
AOE2 Malians also suffer from that with their Gbeto which is actually Dahomean and actually also not the very best UU they could have picked tbh.
I hope that they’ll take inspiration from the 5th Legacy Mod for potential upcoming AoE 1 content:
I fully agree with you. Hausa as an umbrella for West Africa in AoE 3 is a poor idea. Songhai would definitely be better as an umbrella civ - but it would be better if the developers didn’t abandon West Africa in AoE 3 and add at least 2 more civs from that region (in AoE 2 as well).
From what i saw they add gates and trade carts in the dlc. I wonder how the trade carts work and what about the trade boats and the trade for gold
