 DESCRIBE THE ISSUE IN DETAIL (below). LIMIT TO ONE BUG PER THREAD.

Setting the diplomacy stance with an AI computer player to “Enemy” does not make the AI player change their diplomatic stance back. If they start allied, then the AI computer player stays allied and never changes their diplomatic stance, even when they are set to “Enemy” and attacked. Teams are not locked, so the diplomacy stance should be able to change.

:arrow_forward: REPRODUCTION STEPS

 List CLEAR and DETAILED STEPS we can take to reproduce the issue ourselves… Be descriptive!

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Open Age of Empires 2: Return of Rome.
  2. Switch to the Age of Empires 1 mode.
  3. Single Player → Skirmish.
  4. Set the game to only 2 players, with the human player and the AI.
  5. Ensure that the AI is on the same team as the human player, so that they will be initially allied.
  6. Ensure that under “Team Settings” (lower right), the “Lock Teams” checkbox is not checked.
  7. Press “Start Game”.
  8. Set the diplomatic stance with the AI computer player to “Enemy”.
  9. Attack the AI computer player.
  10. Check the diplomatic stance of the AI computer player. It should have remained on “Ally”.

 What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not present?

If a player changes their own diplomatic stance with an AI computer player from “Ally” to “Enemy” or “Neutral”, then the AI computer player should also set it’s diplomatic stance with the player to “Ally” or “Neutral” respectively. This should prevent the player from attacking the ally easily without resistance.

I reported this to the team, thanks for this detailed report

I remember this was the behaviour in AoK back then, but the AI begged you to stop before actually declaring you as enemy
