Hi! So return of Rome added the possibility to garrison villager in TCs, opening to a better defense from raids, but in AOE1 there is still the mechanic that if unit starts to get into your eco you have no way to repell them outside for your own military
I would personally like a tech that make TC able to defend themselfs, like a tech after you researched the towers techs, that create a tower on your TC, with maybe a subsequent tech to improve that tower
I think that would make gameplay more interesting personally, and i’m curious to knownthe forum opinion since i’m not very familiar with game1
I would propose that tower techs will unlock TCs ability to fire arrows and determine the attack strength of arrows.
Watch tower tech gives TC when garrisoned 3 attack per 3 villager and max to 5 arrows with 5 range.
Sentry tower tech gives TC when garrisoned 4 attack per 3 villager and max to 5 arrows with 5 range.
Guard tower tech gives TC when garrisoned 5 attack per 3 villager and max to 5 arrows with 5 range.
I think it would be good, maybe allow villagers to shoot some low damage arrows when garrisoned after researching the watchtower technology. I like that the game is more aggressive than AoE 2, but I also think it tends to snowball way too often, with too many games ending already in tool age, so it would probably be good to add some defensive options.
As long as the tech costs you a fair amount of resources, it will set you back from a eco perspective and it will not necessarily penalize aggressive playstyles, while at the same time allowing a more defensive oriented approach. This would be very beneficial especially for new players.
No. Garrison should be completely removed. Garrison doesn’t belong in RoR/R2R. Your ability to scatter and run and produce army to defend with should be your defenses.
