At a sell price of 27, a Saracen player can sell 100 wood for 27 gold to then purchase 100 wood for 26 gold, earning a net profit of 1 gold for the two transactions. The player can then create a macro to repeat the sell wood and buy wood hotkeys repeatedly, enabling an income rate of up to 280 gold per minute from just literal market exploit. That is equivalent to about 13 villagers on gold or 10 relics, without actually having any villagers or relics at all.

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Be Saracens
  2. Have a market
  3. Have at least 2500 wood
  4. Sell wood until sell price is 27 gold
  5. Sell 100 wood for 27 gold
  6. Buy 100 wood for 26 gold
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for profit

The player is not supposed to be able to generate gold out of thin air without possessing either villagers mining gold, relics in a monastery, a feitoria, or other feature explicitly stated in the game’s tech tree.

It’s not every day that people encounter an ancient bug.


I suspect that is no obstacle to being patched since they removed foundation scouting, tower hopping, etc, even though those had always been around

Just to let everyone know, this happens for food and stone too. When sell price is 27 gold.

Can be stopped by the opponent by manipulating the sell price. Then your macro will kill your economy…
